Campers and Shelties

Hi everyone, I have a question that I know someone on here can answer for me. We are going to be buying an RV within the year. (30-33 ft bunkhouse specifically). We also are going to buy a truck to tow it, since my Fiesta ain't gonna tow nothing. So, the question is, for other people with campers, when you're traveling to the campsite, where do your shelties stay. Are they in the truck with you? I don't want to do the truckbed, even with one of those hard shell things over it. (And second question- what's that thing called?)

They ride with me in the motorhome but I would avoid them in the pull behind if possible. Though you could do a RF back up cam inside so you could see them. I could be way off but I think it is illegal for a person to ride in a pull behind (though I am sure people still do).

We have done both... Actually, we've had a pop-up, travel trailer, and now a motor home. My wife insisted, nay, DEMANDED we get an SUV instead of a pickup truck... Even with the cap. We've hauled girls to Myrtle Beach and back in a Jeep Grand Cherokee pulling our pop-up then our hybrid. Then got a Nissan Armada to pull our last trailer. PLENTY of room for 3 girls and us. Never would we put the girls in the trailer.... Can't let people in the trailer while moving, why would you let your Shelties back there?
And as far as the difference in RV and such? To me, they are ALL RV's (recreation vehicles), but only motor homes are self-propelled and self-contained.

I guess my question would be, "How big of a trailer are you looking at?" Different sizes demand specific tow vehicles. Big SUV's can handle a good portion of the pull behind trailers. Unless you are set on a pickup. But if you go to a fifth-wheel, yeah, a pickup is a must have. And even then, different sizes fifth-wheel demand specific pickups.

so my crazy question is what is the difference between a recreational vehicle and a motorhome?
A motorhome is an RV but so is a pull behind, given she was discussing a truck to tow it with I knew she had a pull behind. Of course in a motorhome they are either in with you, at home or surfing the roof.... the second and third are bad ideas

We have always had a travel trailer. Currently a 30 foot one. We always have Shelby (and Hollie prior to Shelby) ride in the truck with us. They both were/are great travelers and just lay down and go to sleep until we get to our destination. But they both were camping with us from day one, so they honestly never known anything different.

I don't know how vocal your pup is, but Shelby can be very vocal (especially if there are kids playing around). So unfortunately sometimes she must spend more time inside than I would like (believe me she still gets a lot more walks and exercise on vacation than she does at home).

We've got 3 in mind, it will depend on how many more bills fall since we paid off our family vehicle. It can only tow 5,000 lbs- which is too close to the campers we are drooling over. All three that we really like are 6,700. We are looking at trucks mostly because we are dead-center farm country and trucks are easier to find that the big SUVs. We wouldn't turn down a bigger SUV-at all. But around here, it's big trucks and small SUVs. Also, the less we spend on the Vehicle Which Tows (Or as I think of it Auto McTowyson) the more we can spend on the camper- which is where we want to spend more time.
