canned chicken?

Hi everyone,

Chewie has had diarreah and is not eating. The vet ran tests and everything came back good. She recommended feeding Chewie a diet of chicken and rice for a couple of days until he gets over whatever has his stomach upset. Is it ok to use canned chicken or should I buy chicken breasts and boil them?

I suspect that canned chicken has too many additives in it, including salt. I always get chicken breasts when I need to make it for the dogs, boil them and shred them in the food processor to mix with rice.

You can also find ground chicken in some stores and fry it like you would hamburger. I think either of those would be better than canned.

In a pinch, I use the chicken baby food in the little jars. I hope Chewie feels better soon!

So sorry Chewie is feeling poorly...

I agree with everything Ann stated... too much salt and additives!
I boil the chicken and cut it up into fine strips with the rice.
