Cat chasing troubles

Pippi is now 9 months old and she loves our 2 cats. Today Mylee who is 6 month old arrived to stay for 2 months and they first thing she did when she saw one of our cats was bark and chase her. Does anyone have any tips to help both cat and puppy learn to get along?

Is Mylee a dog - what sort?

Very hard to teach a puppy when it's all new. Best bet is to keep Mylee contained and ensure the cats have escape paths up high and away from Mylee. If Mylee is a herding breed then just let her watch them - without having them run away, a running cat becomes a toy. If Mylee is another breed I'd think about keeping contact minimal.

Can you put up baby gates as long as you are pet sitting?

That way my cats can always get away from the dogs! Just something to consider. I would still give a NO command when the chasing occurs just to let the pup know you do not approve!

I think baby gates will work, or anything that high that's out of the dogs reach will give the cats comfort. But after they get used to each others scent and they can be in the same room together, i would play with them with their cat/dog toys on the floor with you being the barrier between them with treats. After a few days of this they should be cool. That's how it worked in my situation with one of my cats, my other cat just put him in his place with a couple of slaps to the head and that ended that chase pretty quick lol...

good luck!
