Have you ever tried it? What can you tell me about it. Does it bring their coat out. Does the hair stand up?

Don't buy. Yeah I tried... but wasn't horribly impressed. I've tried both the spray and the stuff you use during bath time. The bath time stuff works a little better than the spray(the spray sort of coats the hair and reminds me of regular hairspray.

Yes, its really only for show.

Honestly, don't get sucked into to pictures of the show pups....they are groomed up to the nines with chalk etc.

If you see the same pups in their home environment, they dont' look anything like their show pictures.

But I'm going to ask those who Show in conformation to step in here.

We use Thick and Thicker after the dogs are all groomed to go in the ring. A small amount of the gel run through their ruff helps keep it up..same for the spray. It is thick and sticky, and I can't think of another application for it. It reminds me of the old "Dippity Do" hair product.

I actually use all 3 thick n thicker products.
The one you use with the bath I love! It is an amazing product but you also have to use it with a powerful dryer to continue to lift the coat. It does actually make the fur stand out more that just regular bathing.
THe spray is more of a hair spray and works well for show grooming
and the gel holds the chalk nicely and adds body to their coat.

Honestly though I only use these products on my dogs being shown, the ones who arent or just the house dog get a regular scrub a dub with normally crown royal, love it and its smells good too:smile2:

I've never used the gel before... but now I'm going to have to try... as I have had a difficult time finding something good to stand their ruff up for the show ring.

I have to laugh, Barb. When Alexandra's Shelties go into the ring, they look like what they are: the bluest blood of Sheltiedom. But when they visit me, or I visit them, they're running around in what my DS calls "their bathrobes and slippers."

One of these days, I'm going to do a full "up do" on the boys, just to see what they MIGHT look like if I were showing them! I'd love to see Bacca with his ruff all puffed out and looking regal, instead of looking "Eeeyore".

Then I'll wash it out and let them put their "jammies" on again!
