A few months ago Edan and CJ, as well as the rest of our first treibball class, participated in our first virtual treibball trial. (This is an option American Treibball Association offers to make it available to a wider audience.)

All the dogs in class successfully completed their ATA-V,B (ATA-Vitrual, Beginner) title and yesterday we received our ribbons and certificates! This is a major milestone for my dog sports club (we've evolved to more than agility) because we've been pushing hard to really get treibball going in our area.

The dogs in the picture are (left to right) CJ, Edan, Cimarron (of course the three Shelties are grouped together),Sasha and Abby.

Kudos to all of you and to your club for getting treibball started in your area...hope it catches on in many other areas soon. Great pic! :smile2:

Congratulations!

Now, I am going to be honest and tell you I had no idea what treibball was. So I looked it up. It is very interesting to read about it. They have a video on their website, but I can't view videos at the pc I am on and will have to wait until I get home. I can say that we do need more activities for dogs to do in the US and this looks like a great new sport. I am surprised more people are not interested in.

Here is the thread with links to the videos of Edan and CJ's runs for their virtual trial: http://sheltieforums.com/showpost.php?p=336031&postcount=7

Treibball is surprisingly complex for the dogs to learn. There are so many little skills that have to be taught then strung together in order play the game. Seeing the end result and the accomplishment of our class just reinforces how brilliantly intelligent dogs are.

That is awesome! I'm thinking about trying it with Spirit if I can find anywhere around here that offers it. I think she would love it!!!
