This cake is from The Forever Life Dog book…
Tomorrow is Blueberry’s birthday and I made this cake from the book and thought I’d share what a pretty cake it is and how easy it was to make!
I did double the recipe (we’ll have 5 dogs) so the cake would normally be 1/2 the size.

1/2 pound ground beef (I used chicken)
1 egg, shelled
1/2 oatmeal (I used almond flour)
1/4 c shredded cheese (optional)
1 large or 2 small sweet potatoes
Blueberries, strawberries and/or peas for garnish
Preheat oven to 220
Combine beef, egg, oatmeal and cheese in a medium bowl, mixing until thoroughly combined.
Press mixture into 2 mini cake tins or shape into patties approximately 6” in diameter and place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 2 1/2 hours or until done.
Press patties flat as soon as they come out of oven. Let cool
Frosting
While cake is baking, make frosting.
Peel and cut sweet potato into chunks, place in medium sized pot filled with water and cook until soft.
Drain and mash, adding water as needed until it’s a spreadable consistency. Frost middle and then top and sides. Decorate with garnish.
And in case you’re wondering, the low oven temperature is so the cake retains the most nutrients (they call it gently cooked).
I know your dogs will love this cake!

This cake was incredibly easy to make and the sweet potato made the nicest icing!IMG_7475.jpeg

That is beautiful Lisa! I'm in awe of your decorating skills. Happy Birthday to the Queen Bee tomorrow!
I was surprised at how nicely sweet potato spreads and is perfect for icing! I would’ve never thought of using it as a dog friendly option. It’s too bad everyone is so far away lol….I’ll have way too much cake for 5 dogs!

I'm sure Ms. Blueberry and her roomies will be happy to polish off any leftovers! Gorgeous cake, your pups are very lucky!
