With only one dog in the house, soon to be two, I've been working hard with Indy to derail him from all the bark behaviors.

So I've brought out the vacuum with kibbles in hand and I'm playing with him with it. And its working. I also have him no longer barking like crazy at feeding time.

It's amazing what just a little training can do. especially one who is food motivated like Indy.....Just a kibble is enough to get him rolling over!
 
Smart idea!! They certainly learn from each other. If you can get Indy in line, before the puppy comes that will go a long way in reducing the noise!

Do I know what you mean! Food motivated !! like crazy ! .... and you are right ....one little kibble does the trick !

A few weeks of one-on-one is a great idea! Work on a few things, have a bit of special time, grieve together.

I really love the idea of vacuuming with kibble in hand. I've never thought of that before. I probably don't vacuum as much as I should because of the super intense vacuum barking! I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.
 
Good job Barb and Indy, getting Indy in tow will make the new baby a lot easier to manage, you know the saying, monkey see, monkey do! I know Indy is loving all the one-on-one time with mom, that's always a good motivator. Can't wait to see pics of the soon-to-be new family member.
 
I vacuumed while holding gavin when he was a pup as long as he was small. Hes a big boy (32lbs), so probably 5 months. he doesn't really care much now when I being it out. Guess it worked- he's desensitized.
 
I've been doing its every night this week. It seems to be working like a charm. Now I just turn on the vacuum at random. He will give one bark and run away. I encourage him to come back for a treat.

Also getting Indy to sit/stay before he gets his dinner. Also working too. Without Bacca he is a lot less food aggressive.
