Chiropractor - Ongoing Chloe saga

Our Bandit had acupuncture for his joint issues from Lyme disease years ago. He was quite young when he began having joint problems from Lyme, around 5. The acupuncture worked wonders on him and never failed to pretty much eliminate his symptoms. The only problem was that we had to be consistent with it and keep up with the appointments whenever he became gimpy. But it really does work.

I hope you have good results with Chloe and she feels better soon!

So...Chloe went in today for another adjustment and for some acupuncture. It was really interesting. I LOVE this vet. She is so great with Chloe. Chloe seemed to really like the acupuncture and melted in the vets arms.

The vet said that Chloe has lost some muscle mass in her right shoulder since she has been seeing her in August. She feels that she is having joint issues from this area that is either from a residual injury or from the Lymes. I have another appointment in 3 weeks for another dose of accupuncture. Fingers crossed that this works for her.

I do not have to restrict her activity at home. I just have to continue to keep her off the beds and not do any sports including agility with her. We have to build up her muscles without injuring her further. The x-rays that we did last month covered her entire leg and shoulder and there isn't anything structurally going on there, so maybe this will work for her :confused2:

Again, the vet said that everything is very minimal with her, and that she does feel that she will recover 100%. She also suggested I get her on Cosequin as well, in case it is arthritis that settled in her joints due to the injury and/or Lymes. She said that recovering from Lyme can be a very long process.

My poor baby......and the saga continues.

Well that sounds very positive!

Give the chiropractic and acupuncture some time, I personally found them to be very helpful for pain management and joint issues in the past, but some times it takes a few visits. Its great that you're so comfortable with this vet.

I know how frustrating it is but hang in there!

Thanks Melissa for the words of encouragement. I am really optimistic that this will work for Chloe. She is so happy right now. I think she just really feels good after the work done on her today. She keeps look at me, like, "thank-you mommy, I feel so good."

Sadie got her first chiropractic adjustment yesterday and I noticed a big difference almost immediately. She was most definitely moving more freely, when before she looked almost stiff and clumsy.

Chiropractic has helped me a lot over the years so why wouldn't it be good for dogs too? Especially athletes?

An update on Chloe.

She is doing AWESOME. The chiropractic adjustment in conjunction with the acupuncture is doing wonders for her. She has almost no limp on her front leg and the vet said last night that she has most of her muscle mass back on her front leg. I also started her on Cosequin about 6 weeks ago. I believe that the Cosequin along with the chiro/acupuncture has really helped her. She has her spunk back :biggrin2:

Yay Chloe

Wow!! That's great news! Have you considered using Vibrant Pets to keep her improving? The joint and muscle formula have eliminated limping issues in Bits and Annie.

Thanks...I appreciate it.

She is on the Vibrant Pets Show Dog formula. I showed my vet the ingredients for the joint and muscle formula and was told that Cosequin was a much better choice for her situation.
