Choosing a sheltie - male or female?

Great post!! I've only ever had male shelties and I can't agree more with the descriptions offered by others that they are clingy, affectionate, like to please. I love them mummy's boys!

I'm getting another pup next year and am leaning towards a female because of what I've read about how boys and girls go better than 2 boys. Of course personality plays a huuuuge part as well! So I'd very much like to hear from the experienced multiple sheltie households what kind of personalities fit better with others? And is it possible to tell what a pup's personality will be like when it's really young?
 
It's funny, but the main difference we see with Beckon is that he's "all boy." He reminds me of all the little people boys I know -- rough and tumble, carefree, rough on toys, but still wanting to snuggle with Mommy at night! :smile2:

That sums up Bacca beautifully! Indy is a little more complex. He doesn't really know how to play as well as Bacca, but is much more "in your face". Kiss me, Hug me! Let me Lick you! You lick me! Let's all have one great group "lick"! He's the one that insinuates his nose under your armpit while you are trying read a book, peering up at you with those black-brown eyes....!

P.S. My human kids were the same way....Ryan was my cuddler AND my extrovert. Michelle always more shy and kept to herself.
