Class action against Hills

IMG_4622.jpeg Very interesting to hear about this class action against Hills dog food (as well as vet researchers and others) alleging that DCM caused by dog food was a scheme Hills pet food created in order to boost revenues and stop people from buying what they called ‘boutique’ brands (which at the time were expanding quickly). If these allegations are true it will not be good news for Hills.
Here’s the link so you can read for yourself. Of course I know the allegations in the lawsuit are unproven at this point but it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. When I think of all the time people put into finding the right food for their dog and the fear DCM caused pet owners this would be shameful if true.

Wow! Should be interesting to see what happens with this. Hopefully this law firm is doing this on a percentage basis otherwise Hills will drag it out.
 
Interesting to see this play out.. Dog nutrition has always been so controversial and all over the place with this and that vet claiming this and that..is bad or is the only healthy thing to give your dog. With so many breeds with difference genetic variation within the different breeds it is almost impossible to make broad statements-- the disinformation backroad is the new information highway unfortunately..

It was always the case, there is just now enough information for you to see it. The beauty in that is you can weigh one versus another and balance your decision versus being told whatever the powers that be want you to think. More work but better for your Sheltie the new way.
 
This case does not have anything to do with the quality or lack thereof of Hills dogfoods but rather their deceptive marketing strategy..So bad on whoever they hired for that and to them for signing off on it..but tastes being what they may, one of my crew does not like Hills, the other is MEH. The same is true of several other brands-- right now they are or seem to be happy with Health Extension, so fingers crossed that does not change. Again, as others have pointed out, we have the responsibility to read the labels and understand what is being said (thank goodness there are some regulations about truth in this regard) and then evaluate on our best judgement.. perfection is an elusive thing but we do try our best..
