There was one person who was very selfish.
Since many of us aren't on the list, can you (or whomever read the list) tell us what was "selfish"?
For myself, how much I volunteer directly correlates to how friendly and accommodating the people in charge are. Like Ashley, there is a specific club I'd never volunteer with...ever. Having a good person in charge, makes people a lot more willing to work. This last trial, I had 2 people "in charge" get angry at me for things I couldn't help. i.e. I had to back out of 2 leash running jobs to go walk/run. Really? You're going to get angry at me? Another one said, in a very nasty tone, "well, you BETTER make it up - here put your name here". And I told her, if you put my name there, it may conflict with ring 2. And she gave me a dirty look. Really?
I still worked because it was my club, but I was angry and bitter. And when I was done, I didn't do anything extra for her that day. I went and helped elsewhere. In NADAC, everyone is really so nice and accommodating that I love helping out. I think someone needs to tell my club's "in charge" people to be nicer to the "help".
I haven't worked one single AKC event. Mostly because 1. it's not my club, 2. it's not a club I see often, and 3. I'm scared of all the hand signals and 4. oh my, all the rules. After I am "broken in" at my club's AKC trial, maybe I won't fear it so much.
I give as much as they give. I've learned this is the best route. Because I am tired of being used and abused.
