Clicker Training at Trials

This was our distraction from last weekend. Just finished up dumping a load right outside the jumpers ring and yes I did Q with both dogs that day. Diva finished her AXJ.

The clicker didn't bother me. I think Diva looked because she has never been in a class with other dogs being clicked.

that distraction would likely bother Dixie- she's much better with loud noises than she used to be but that might be a little much for her:winkgrin:

LOL
Now THAT is a distraction!!

interesting, Toffee doesn't care about anybody else clicking, unless it is me... I usually mark with yes, at trial anyhow
but me having a clicker in my hand gets his attention like there is noo tomorrow. In class there are lots of people with other dogs close and clickers anyhow, so he learned that a click only means something if it comes from me... As romeo's mom said, last thing I am worried about is a dog with a clicker!!! Considering my reactive dog, lol.
BUT I tell you the training and proofing I did at trial gave me a better dog at trial than at home, sometimes LOL
It's SO worth it, do it until somebody says you can't is my advice!!!

And we've all heard the stories of how well Toffee is doing. :)

Hey, at least I have mat work down really well. He does good, he watched the dogs, even had a dog step on him (backed up into him) and Koji didn't even get up or move. If he was standing up, dang, he would have attacked before the dog got close.

I will definitely work with him under my canopy first, then move closer to the ring (I'm not usually that close). But it's more about the dogs, not where I am. I just need lots of dogs around, so I can train.

Except that random sniff in the ring the last time, I haven't had Koji distracted in a long while. And even then, sniffs weren't his thing. Now, chasing after a handler/dog running next to the ring back to their tent is another thing (I hate that the most - hello, many of the dogs are herding dogs - can we save movement). Or chasing after a bee/fly flying around. That's Koji. So, I'm just grateful that he seems to ignore everything and has done so for the past....2 years. Or 1 year. I cant' remember how long I've been trialing, lol

lollll, sorry!!! I just know where you're coming from. But I guess I am just a tad too happy with T's progress with him finally NOT tryin' to lunge at dogs, lol.. I know I may have mentioned it a time or two :o I used to get nightmares thinking what if...
I take his mat with me when I am in spectator mode ring side, so I train while I watch, I get as close to the ring as I can without distracting the other dog.
