Clipping Black Nails

Ditto on the dremmel! I usually gauge the length to grind back the black nails against a white nail (my pups have both!).

Thanks for the tip about looking for the black spot.....just added insurance, though I've never had a bleeder with the Peticure.

All of you are convincing me to start using my husband's dremmel. I have had several bleeders in the past but I have always been able to stop them. For anyone who wants to know, just in case, you keep a bar of soap next to you and scrape it against the bottom of the nail to stop it when it is bleeding. My mom works at a vet's office and they told me that..... and it works!

Anyway, my husband said that I needed to get my own dremmel. Hehehehe, I will be going out to the garage now, he just left with his pal! That dremmel is soooo mine!
 
;-)..."Dremmel" is the brand...and it is a grinder that can be used for lots for lots of projects. It just so happens it is PERFECT for our little furkids nails ;-)..

Just be sure and go slow and only do many touches because it will get hot. You'll get the feel of how fast go go...etc. It does a much nicer job than any of the nail trimmers/clippers. Also, you can buy replacements (the little sandpaper bands) and they are dirt cheap ;-).

lol...you crack me up. You go girl!! lol He'll never know....unless he reads these boards??? haha...
 
Check out the stylist cordless dremel. They're not cheap but you hold them like a pencil. Lithium batteries so they should last, plus they have power for other things. You'll have to hide it from your hubby.:yes:

That's what I do! Baby powder works great too! Thankfully I only have to worry about ONE black nail on Caliber. We'll have to wait it out and see with Replyka...so far she doesn't...but I'm sure it could change.

Too, too funny! Wonder how long it will take him to notice it missing, and whether he'll think to look in your grooming bin?! :biggrin2:
