Co-ownership?

Michelle, that almost makes it sound like a short drive for me, from here to Wapa, compaired to how far you have to go. It's 4 hours for me, so I'll be staying overnight as well.
As far as what's coming up in Kentucky, the next UKC conformation show we'll have will probably be at Super Dog Sports Center in Shelbyville KY (about 20 minutes from Louisville) in July. There may be others, but that's the onle one I know of.

Yeah, it's a decent drive for us. When I met up with you all a few weeks ago, it was a 5hr drive. The map is taking us up through Lexington then Cincinatti. It will be worth it, though.

If you don't mind, keep us posted on the Shelbyville, KY possibility in July. That's just right under a 5hr drive for us. Maybe we can plan another meeting then. I'm right in AKC country, so UKC shows aren't as readily available. We have an AKC show (conformation and obedience trial) here locally in May, and then I can pretty much choose wherever within a 5hr drive, since we're only about 4 & 1/2hrs from Raleigh, NC (home of AKC Operations Center).

do you know about how long it takes to get her registration? It got sent out today. I am sure it should be here before April right.

also I am not sure how many of the shows I should enter her in. I know I cant go on Friday my husband works until 5. I am also thinking about letting my daughter (Autumn) show in jr's.

That's cool, Jessica! Per UKC,

Normal Processing time is 10 business days - not including mail time

so you should have it within 2-3wks.

I won't be able to go on Friday either, since my husband works on Fridays. He's going to try to get off early that day, so we can drive on up, but we won't be at the show until Saturday. We're planning to go on Saturday and Sunday, if all goes as planned.

Co Own

If you decide to co-own you must put everything on paper. I currently co-own a collie I bred with the owner of the stud. We have no each other for years and raise our dogs in a similar manner. I trust her implicitly. Even thoug I trust her and she me we wrote out everything we wanted from this co-ownership as we also value our relationship and want to stay friends.

I don't like co-owning because people don't think it through and feelings are hurt. In this situation we both keep our dogs as house pets first and foremost. I currently have a 10 year old male who does not want a young challenger. She has a daughter who loves to show so tehy will take this boy for two to three years. They are responsible for all bills during his stay with them - medical, testing, training, showing etc. If he is bred we share in the stud fee. When he lives with me at 3 years old I will be responsible if I continue to show him, his medical care and we will both have access to breeding him to our own bitches and must agree if he is to be bred out. There is a ton more to our contract but that is the gist of it. They get an extremly beautiful pup to train and show and I get a lovely male to replace myold boy when he is gone and I don't have to bother my old man with a youngster and they don't have to keep an adult when they really want another youngster to train.
This works for both of us. Be careful and be sure everything is in writing.
