Coat change

I am not sure if the question goes here or in the color forum but this one gets more action, so here goes.

Our "puppy" Sadie, will be a year old soon and is starting to develop a more mature coat but she is changing color along with that change in ways we didn't initally expect. She is a very light colored sable, basically strawberry blonde, and instead of getting darker via an overlay she is getting grayer and a gray Merle is forming on her face, tail and patches on her back. Is developing merling this late normal and does that make her a sable Merle?

I have attached a picture of her face where you can see the light grey color on her face.

I don't know the answer to your question but she sure is adorable! I find the grey shading to be very attractive.

It does look like she could definitely be a sable merle. From your post history, it looks like she's a rescue, so you don't know what her parents looked like, right?

She's very cute! You should really post some more pictures so we can make our best judgement.

Sweet face with pretty markings. As far as your post...I am no help at all. I will be anxious to read posts from the others.

Definitely need pictures from all angles so we can really evaluate the coat. Well, that and we all like to look at sheltie pix . . .
