Completely puzzled and worried

How old is Blaze??

No chance of anything being obstructed in there? Is he pooping ok?

You can try a lyme snap test its relatively cheap, than I would opt for maybe either an xray or ultrasound. Xray is maybe the first best since its most readily available.

Darn...

I had just written a detailed reply and when I hit post..it said I wasn't logged in...(but I was!)...maybe I got timed out... Anyway as I have run out of time. I will repost my response later.

BTW thanks for all your support and comments:smile2:

No idea, but his stools are normal so far.

Results...

Well, finally I have a few moments : )

Blaze's blood results yielded a 2 point decrease in his alread high cholesterol from 29.70 to 27.13 not a big change; urea was 2.5 and now 3.4 up slightly. Sodium down slightly 1st test but normal the second round. Chloride was low a bit also 1st test and no tested the second round.

His T4 test showed 6.1 from the norm 12-50 level. The vet mentioned that his could be secondary to the real issue; this explains his weakness/tired and hesitation for the stairs in my opinion.

But the vomiting of bile still has me concerned. Although it started a while back about once a month then in July 4 times but twice what I would call a marathon (emptied his stomac completely on two occasions) and there was quite a bit of muceous but no blood. His stools always normal no excessive thirst and has a good appetite.

His energy level seems better since yesterday and his digesting the wet food is good; he can't digest dry at all, he threw it up on Saturday, so we mix a bit in with the wet food and he seems to hold it okay.

It is just such a puzzle; up and down it seems. But you can tell he is not his 100%.

I have read up on Addisons and Cushings and I don't see any direct relation given his current symptoms.

I have, at the vet's recommendation, booked an appointment for an ultrasound, and prior to the test, consult with the internal medicin specialst at the Alta Vista Animal Hospital for next Wednesday. So they maybe able to give me more specific answers.

Thanks again for all your support and comments.

Praying for a solution that something can help your pup. Never had this experience before. Keep an update.

Spoke too soon

Hi everyone,

Well Blaze is not so hot again, he was ill again (vomited) on Saturday and looking extremely low on Sunday; back to the vet yesterday and we have had another series of blood tests taken.

He seems to digest the wet food, but forget about the dry.

The vet re-examined him and he has no sensitivity in the abdominal area what so ever. Stools are normal and so is the urine. Luckily he has no sign of dehydration.

He seems to go up and down in mood, happy nearly himself and then almost weak to the point of not wanting to go up or down stairs. That was Sunday, yesterday he seemed to perk up a bit.

After looking again at the first blood result his sodium was slightly low too along with the enzyme level (I think from translation of French lymphocytes)

I am not sure what to do next. They suggest maybe X-ray or ultrasound, but is it worth an X-ray ? ultrasound would show more no? Also, perhaps some specific blood work Spec cPL, or ABCB4 to test the pancreas and gall bladder once we see the results of the next series of blood work return which should be this morning.

Has anyone experienced the same symptoms in their Shelties? Do you know what this could be. I would appreciate any help ....suggestions.

signed worried

.... oh no... just when I thought Blaze was looking favorably better....he started diarrhea this morning... so glad I have the appointment this Wednesday at the Hospital.

I'm late chiming in, because I've been on vacation.

Welcome to my world! I've been dealing with a wonky dog and wonky test results for about 2.5 years now.

Over the last month, Bacca has gone from exteme lethargy to extreme high spirits. Every day is a different day. Bacca is confirmed with hypothyroid and liver issues. Lately he is drinking water constantly which points now to potential kidney issues as well.

I'm making an appointment for him to get re-tested a little ealier because of that.

I expect the results to come back inclusive, as always.

Thr only thing I would suggest right now is looking at diet. What are your feeding currently?
