Conan eats the same diet daily, but about once every 2 weeks he throws up. Since he sleeps with us, this is a serious problem. It smells terrible and he gets it on himself so he needs to be bathed. Everything on the bed must be washed. We need help. Our vet suggested a small amount of pepto-bismol every night, but he does not want to take it. Any suggestions?

It sounds weird, normally smells vomit not so ugly when a dog vomits.

Is the bile then it is yellow not very much comes up. ?

Is it of undigested pills food, so it smells of "food" and the pills have only sucked some of the liquid. ?

Is there of undigested pieces of bone fragments in the vomit?

What gets Conan to eat?

How old are Coman ?

sour tummies

My girls can get gassy, and if Savannah is tooting badly before bed, since she still is a puppy she can end up having a vomiting session in the wee hrs. And since she "supplements" her diet with twigs, insects, plant bits, etc. I think it is that stuff that is causing her sour tummy, not her actual food:eek2:. But I have been giving her chewable papaya tablets when she is gassy before bed and that has curbed the late night urping episodes. I prefer natural based remedies over pepto or stuff like it.

What time does Conan eat each night? Emmy had the same problem, and I realized that it occurred in the nights when she either choose not to eat dinner or are really early. I think it must have been acid reflux. Once u stated feeding her letter in the evening, it cleared right up.

Hope your little one feels better soon!

I had the same problem with Zulu. I also noticed that it mostly happened when he ate early. It was a small amount of liquid, no food. We now feed him later in the evening, or give him a snack before bedtime. Not a single episode since.

Any grass? If my dog ate grass.... Something about spring makes him eat grass.... And he will throw up at night. Or if he got a tissue or string or something little like that

Is this a fairly recent thing? Deska would often throw up for no seeming reason, until my old vet diagnosed it as eating dirt in spring. He said he saw a lot of dogs coming in with seasonal vomiting so it was a pretty quick diagnosis for him. In spring and autumn the levels of microbes in the soil increases and the ground is more moist, and for some reason it also tastes nicer to dogs. Plus they like to bury and dig up bones and things. But it does upset the microbe balance in their stomachs.

Deska still gets obsessed with eating dirt during particular times of year and I have to be ever vigilant otherwise I endup with vomit on the carpet overnight, he may also get diarrhoea. Whenever he does get a bout we get some metronidazole and I always keep Ensal handy - in fact if I catch it fast enough the Ensal will prevent it. As he's gotten older his stomach is even more sensitive so it only takes one session of eating some dirt and he gets sick.
