Thanks for all the imput! My corgi, Sparky is never left outside alone for more than 10-15 minutes at a time, so that won't be a problem. Good tips, watching for furniture placement and snow build-up. :smile2:

i just read this post to Lisa as Prince brought 2 toys and rolled over to be scratched on his belly as he showed his teeth in joy. we could not help but laugh and shake our heads in agreement. especially about following you into the bathroom.... thanks for taking the time to post....
 
As a newbie to Sheltie Nation I have been trying to catch up and read through old threads/posts and was happy to see my article "Are Shelties for Everyone" being used to assist people who are questioning whether a Sheltie is a good fit for their lifestyle. I wrote it many years ago when on the AOL Sheltie board because we all too often had people who had already gotten a Sheltie (usually chosen because Shelties are "so pretty") post on the board that they were unhappy about some of their dog's behavior which was usually very typical sheltie behavior. We even had one man post that his sheltie was driving him nuts because it always wanted "to be near him" and he wanted a dog that was independent and would leave him alone most of the time. It is important to choose a dog breed on much more than looks...and although I love Shelties and always will, they are not a breed that is the right match for all. We wouldn't see so many Shelties in rescue if everyone took the time to research and ask questions before they made a breed choice. Kudos to those who do take the time and effort!!!
