constipation cures?

Yea I think onions are bad for dogs. So far today she only had one BM at 7am and it was mostly loose...I'm giving her one more day. If she's not having normal bm's by tomorrow, she's going to the vet on Friday :(
 
Gastric problems

Hi all,gastric problems seem to go hand in hand with shelties.All our shelties had bouts of loose stool or constipation from time to time.Right now Cole is having a loose stool problem.Took him to the vet this morning & he prescripted the following
-injection of Atropine 0.5 s/c
-injection of Longisil .75 sc
-Apo Sulfatrim 400-80mg tabs 2 daily
-Apo-Metronidazole-250mg-2 daily
-Left fecal sample for examination by his lab
-Cole got into the cats litter box two days ago & ate some cat bon-bons(poop) This probably set off his current gastric problem.Hopefully the vet's visit will resolve his current gastric problems:smile2: Cody,Wendy & Cole

Ah yes, Deska loves to get into the roo poo. Funnily we havent been around the kangaroos as much so he hasn't eaten as much poo, so maybe the poo was actually helping his stomach!
 
wow they all seem to have BM problems at the same time!

I spoke to my vet yesterday, he said mix rice with her food and if that doesn't work, then bring in a stool sample. She was getting better yesterday. 3 BMS and just a little soft, but not as bad as they have been.

I was hoping she was on her way to going back to normal, but this morning she had a very, very loose BM, so I put it in a ziplock bag and my dad is going to drop it off at the vet this afternoon.

I'm keeping my finger crossed that it's not parasites or worms...:(
 
Turns out my mom has trouble reciting messages back to me.

The vet thought we were crazy for bringing in a stool sample so soon. He said we were jumping the gun. Apparently, he wants us to feed her rice and chicken for 3 days. If her stool was still soft, then bring in a sample...mothers!
 
Woops, still we get so used to picking up puppy poop that I suppose it doesnt hurt. My current vet and the emergency vet take stool samples by sticking a finger or very long cotton bud inside so I think taking a bag of it in is much kinder to the dog.

Mine love it when they get plain chicken and rice for dinner.
 
Too much fiber can have the opposite effect. The bowel becomes inured to the simulation and stops responding.
 
Just going to point out this thread is 6 years old. Although rather interesting for me to read back over.
