Covid Show

So we finally have a show happening...in 4 weeks and we’re still in lockdown!
Wondering if anyone has ever heard of a ‘show and go’ show? Lol
I can’t imagine any show being show and go (especially when there are 2 shows/day)...no grooming at the show, no washroom facilities, no spectators and only one person per dog entered. Your expected to bring your dog to the show already groomed.
I messaged he breeder and she said that I shouldn’t enter Blueberry, that she’s not ready and that it wouldn’t be her best opportunity to shine and I’m soooo relieved! IF we’d had handling classes for the past month I could say maybe but not with these restrictions! Even my breeder isn’t entering her dogs, says this show will be crazy. The ‘go’ in show and go will be all the people having to go to the bathroom :ROFLMAO:

so the AKC show with the Rally National/Obedience/Agility Invitational in Orlando in Dec was 'show and go'.
basically, no spectators, you weren't allowed to stand by the ring and watch unless it was close to your turn to go in. when you were done, back to your crating spot and when your runs were done, you were supposed to leave the show site.
it was still masks on all the time, 6' social distancing, temp checks at the door, etc
not really sure how the conformation people prepped their dogs although they did have a separate area for their crating/grooming.....

The part that gets me is no washroom facilities...if your dog wins it’s class and then the group etc you could be there for a long time plus with 2 shows per day it could be a long wait. I do think most of the seasoned dog people will be there although even my breeder is avoiding this one!

All of ours are show and go now. Since I prefer to groom at home, that’s pretty much what I do anyway. People set up their grooming tables at the car which is what I do, and touch up there. We do have portapotties there though. It’s really not bad. Less waiting for the dog and fewer crowds, especially for the young ones.

We have no-spectator rules as well, and masks are required at some shows even outdoors. One show I was at last week announced they had no food vendors to get people out faster. It will be great when this all ends but it’s sure nice to get back to shows, even with restrictions.

the show I went to was in a giant convention center building with multiple restrooms available. I used the one closest to the agility ring so I could watch some of the runs on the way.........

I think it’s the lockdown that has made it so much harder. We’ve had no classes for at least 6 weeks and for last 4 weeks no outdoor handling classes. Plus this system doesn’t help those of us (me) who are relatively new to showing. If I were to enter Blueberry and I was working I’d have to hand her off to someone and not sure how that’d all work with one person/dog entered or how she’d get home!

The grooming at home/at the car doesn’t bother me in fact I think that makes it easier as I have a hatchback and less taking stuff back and forth. Hopefully once this one goes forward it’ll answer a lot of questions.
I don’t know why but most shows seem to fall on my weekends to work! I have a 50/50 shot of it being on my weekend off but in reality it’s more like 75/25!
