Crazy ticks in November

I agree. We live in south east Pennsylvania and the deer tics have been really bad the last few weeks. We also keep finding them on Shelby, never attached to her. And we sometimes find dead ones where she lays in the bathroom. I can’t wait for it to stay cold and snow.

My husband had Lyme this past summer and my brother was just recently in the hospital for over a week with Lyme. This darn tics are no joke.

I agree, the cold will not kill them unless it is sudden but at least it keeps them inactive for the most part..I just finished my regiment of doxy from one of the little buggers, tho I ahve had tick I have never had one embed and stay sever days without detection.. yup the NE has suffered some very warm weather so lots of ticks survive-- almost want to get chickens to police them from our yard but that would be more trouble and heart ache than it would be worth but love it when chickens convert ticks to chicken eggs......

I have chickens and love them and am grateful for their golden gifts every day - but would not get them for tick control. Chickens literally destroy everything; gardens, flower beds, grass - they turn everything into dirt and then take dust baths in all the dirt resulting in dust flying everywhere. Watching a chicken take a dust bath is funny though - first time you think the chicken is having a seizure or something - they literally dig a hole, lay in it and use their wings and feet to 'bathe' in the dirt. But not sure on controlling ticks.... now a worm - give one a worm and yo have the whole flock chasing her around to try and steal it! I keep mine in a run and only let them out with supervision.

Haha sounds like fun-- we have deer that destroy our plants and chipmunks that love to take one bite out of all the tomatoes-- it is a war. My sister had chickens and loved them, one even wanted to be held but she lost mos of them over time to predators one by one, afew by old age so she gave up after 10ys.. Her dog and the chickens got along just fine- not sure what my current Shelies would do but our old crew was nonplussed about them. Actually I should put the tomatoes back where the shelties are they love love love chippies--
