Cubby is 10 months

Oh Kristie . . . Baker is stunning. Cubby is striking.

I will never get a picture that does him justice unless I do a studio setting with a pet photographer (which I am considering when he is a year old). To get the red and the shading right is impossible and my house is all southern exposure windows with my outside being hideous for pix. It is always shade to sun. It would be better if, well, I understood more than a point n shoot camera too! I can frame a nice shot but the camera part is beyond me. Sigh. Maybe I will take him to the lake this weekend and give it a try.

On the upside -- I think we grew out of our carsickness. . . I think.

I agree with Kristie, Cubby IS stunning... he has my favourite colouring of all in a sheltie. He has such an intelligent, dignified look about him too.

Back to class again! YAY.

First, we visited our "girlfriend" Sadie. Yep. Doodle. She's going to be her mom's MS service dog and she is actually doing fabulously in training.

Then off to class. Last time we worked the small part of the room. Now, the WHOLE room. We also worked TWO finds of TWO odors (Birch & Clove) with the AC fans blowing. All three dogs did wonderfully. There was one where Cubby was trotting and then turned his head, flipped a U turn, and ran right over to the scent. It was really impressive to see him catch the scent a good 5 feet from the item and respond that strongly in only his 7th session. Cubs is registered with NACSW and UKC so we can do an ORT and compete probably in the Fall or after the first of the year.

We are feeling our oats these days and humping poor Melli mercilessly -- and the cats when they hold still. It is also affecting his scent work. He had to smell all the carpet scents before he wanted to work the odor. I actually have him scheduled to be neutered on our Easter break. Sigh. I didn't want to go there but I am.

And, I have been making the braided dog leashes like crazy. I went from rolled custom braided collars and martingales (still making for those who ask) to more the leashes. They are just fun to make. We just opened a shop on Etsy yesterday. I have donated a martingale/leash to Eva at Sheltie Rescue Alternative for her pink auction with a great winning bid and have donated profits to a recent matching-fund challenge she had.

It's fun. Cubby is really fun and scent is what I wanted to do and he is very eager to do it and good at it. I am SO glad I caught "puppy fever" from you all last year.
