Curiosity question

Just out of curiosity how many hours/days per week do most agility dogs train? I'm not really thinking of doing agility with Beau (and he is still young anyhow) but I did wonder.

Agility is one of those things where you get what you put in. I know a few people that take a one hour class once a week and that's it. But it takes much longer to be proficient that way, and likely they won't be at the top of the leaderboard.

A very serious agility person likely trains every day, even if just for a few minutes.

And a lot of people fall somewhere in between. I take 2 hours of class a week, try to rent the building when I can (doesn't happen as often as it should), and try to train in the yard for like 15 minutes every day or two. I usually miss that goal, but that's my ideal!

I try to do the same as corbinam. I only do one hour a week per dog per class (two dogs so two hours) and 10-15 minutes of random sequences after work. However during the winter that kind of stops. Our club doesn't own a building so we train outside and from spring to fall. But I still work on simple things in my house and on warm days try to practice outside some.

I only do 1-2 hours per week of actual agility, but we work on all kinds of things like handling and conditioning and fitness that contribute to success in agility but that do not require equipment almost every day.

We are the same. 1 hr at our local club each week for agility and 1 hr for flygility. Then we do support stuff at home. Things like practicing lead outs, weave entrys and simple handling exercises. Probably 5 to 10 min of this each day

I do agree with Ashley that you get what you put in. I only take a 1 hour group class a week and rarely do any training at home. My long commute to work and work hours does not able me to train much. For my first agility dog, she still does pretty well at competitions, but with more training we would be much more consistent and probably have a MACH by now.
