Daisy survives pit-bull attack

Glad you did not get bitten!
that is the problem with pitbulls bites- the damage is just too large usually. Other dogs will have punctured skin with pitbull you will have crushed muscles and broken bones. These types of dogs have to go, simple as that.
Any dog will bite at some point and people who have pits are usually not impressive in brain facility:uhoh:
yeah and I am sheltie snob:lol:

I just want to add I am glad Daisy (I have a Daisy too!!) was not hurt. I am sorry you received a gash from the dog knocking you over, and commend you on protecting your pup. I would be still shaking...

I would also like to add I carry mace on my walks with Daisy Duke now. I hadn't really thought about using it on a dog, I haven't seen many in my area. Just terriers and chiauhuahua's...but it's a good idea.

I feel safer with the mace.

It's very infortunate that this happened, but there are no such thing as bad dogs, only bad owners. Any dog breed can lunge and attack that behavior in not exclusive to the pitti. They just get a bad rap from uneducated people and the media, there are just as many reported cases of death to people by Rottweilers, German shepherds, huskies, Alaskan malamutes, Doberman pinschers, chows, Great Danes, St. Bernards and Akitas. In October 2000 a 6 week old baby was killed by a pomeranian, but I don't see the press running around saying kill all the poms!
My neighbors ****zu will attack and bite you in a minuite. My other neighbor has 2 , 100 lb bull mastiffs, the most beautiful gentlest dogs in the neighborhood.
It's all about the owner and not about the breed!
Unfortunatly the pitti's next door to you have **** owners, and will one day pay the ultimate price!

yeah but zu will leave tiny puncture sites and pit will put you into rehab for months... there is difference
look at the shelters- pits, shepherds and labs are most prevalent ones. Do those owners that got pits for "protection" teach them bite inhibition like I teach my sheltie?
It is not just rep, it is common sense.

Oh my goodness! I'm so glad to hear that it didn't end any worse. It could have gone so terribly wrong. Because of the dogs irresponsible owners, they have become a menace in the neighbourhood.

I am so sorry, thank goodness Daisy is okay! Good idea to carry pepper spray, I think it is essential for dog owners!

What a scary, horrible thing to have happen. The incredible thing here is that you put yourself in harms way to save your little girl. It just goes to show the amazing bond we have with our dogs and how they really become a part of us.

I would have done the same thing. Glad you are ok!

I am glad you and your dog are okay. When I lived in the city my neighbor got a pit bull who escaped her yard and ran down the alley and killed a dog. Same pit bull climbed a 8 ft. Stockade fence to get in my yard and proceeded to climb my tree to get my cat. They can climb trees! Stay safe and be prepared for any future problems.

Hopefully those people put the dogs down. That is outrageous to have such a vicious dog around. Some people believe obedience school will cure all. No it won't because these dogs will do it again. WHAT? Oh Sit and Bite.

The liability of these dogs to the owners will cost them for the rest of their lives. I know the dogs have to be locked up for 10 days. The joke is around here if the dogs have their shots they can be in the home for 10 days before they are put down.

The neighbor, who reads meters got bit by a boxer and a boxer/pit. The poor guy had to have surgery. Someone I know in another state, got bit and they are permitted to keep the dog, must have had some real smooth talking.

Glad you and your sheltie are ok, what a horrible experience. SCARY!

Our George attacked by pit bull

The sheltie we had before our Georgie this past year was a make we called Beorge. My husband and he were on a walk when a pit bull came out of nowhere and with no provocation, attacked George. Got him in the neck and shoulder and dug deep. We almost lost him that night except for the emergency surgery by our beloved vet. Eventually, the damage caused to his throat caused a collapse thorax and we only had him for two more years.

That pit bull was not destroyed. Good thing I didn't have a gun.
My husband now jogs with a pocket knife; he almost broke his hands trying to get George away from that dog,and he could have been bitten, too.

You always hear that "pit bulls" can be nice family pets but when why are they so prone to attacking little kids and small dogs?
