Day two...

Well today was a huge disappointment as we were so darn close! Ugh!

Ok, so the fast run was a crazy send bonus and though so many others Q'd we did not

The standard run was another close one! He got two refusals.

And the most frustrating of all! Look at this run and watch the very end

Beautiful serpentine in your FAST run. It's clear that Trax recognized that--very nice. What was the send supposed to be? Was it tire, tunnel, jump?

And that last run...it was so nice! The weave pole entry was awesome. So sorry about that last jump...that stinks.

If it helps any, I am really impressed by your crosses and your speed. You really seem to have it down. I am not sure I could even think that fast. He is an amazing dog and you are doing a great job with him. You didn't Q because of the tiniest little thing. The run itself was absolutely beautiful and you should be proud of it.

I agree--I love watching your videos. Trax is drivey and fast...but you do a really great job directing him. I hope one day to be able to direct Lexi as well as you do with Trax. Your crosses (FCs, especially) are spot on! I'm taking notes right now...*scribble scribble* care to share any tools of the trade?

And also, I wanted to add, that with a fast, obstacle focused dog like Trax, you will take your lumps more often than people with slower, handler focused dogs. When you make a mistake, there's no time to correct it. You're left feeling bad about yourself...but the reality is that no one is perfect and you will make mistakes (and so does everyone else). Trax is just so fast that it often costs the team a Q. But you can't feel bad...because when you and Trax are clean, it's a thing of beauty. Many people would love to have what you have...

(Can you tell this is my mantra? I have to remind myself of this with my baby dog because she's so different from my first agility dog!)

The send bonus was tire tunnel and then back to the tire! It wouldn't have been half as bad if it wasn't for the jumps on the orange tape.

Thanks so much! You make me feel so much better really! As for tools of the trade? YEARS of working at it. He has half brothers and sisters that are a year younger and further along than him. It just took a long time for him to mature and his speed is so crazy fast that my timing has to be exact and I have to run my butt off. I run sprints in the gym so that I can have those bursts of energy at the end of the runs to keep up with him. Also we worked for a whole summer in my class on just extension and collection training. It helped a lot to take things back to basics and just work on skills rather than full courses.

Oh, ouch on the Jumpers run. I hate seeing that at the end, it's heartbreaking just to watch. However, I love watching how fast Trax and you are. My gawd your handling is amazing. Yup, I'm way too slow for a fast dog.

Bummer about the FAST, but you know there's always tomorrow. With a dog like Trax, I'm sure a slight hesitation, off kilter a bit and he's going the wrong way. He's so in tuned to you.

It's lovely to watch you guys, even if you didn't get a clean run. :)

Thanks! When I see those runs I just see me being out of place and a step too slow. You're right though, most of the time he follows my every move and I'm a bit of a clutz and unorganized so I tend to forget mid course what I'm doing and make the slightest wrong move and it sends him off into Lala land :biggrin2:

I hate jumpers courses with no tunnels because all those bar jumps get me confused and I get lost a lot!

I feel the same way. My first ever Jumpers courses was ALL jumps. I was so afraid I was going to get lost. But then, at my last USDAA trial, with tunnels, I DID get lost. lol. I almost forgot a jump. Good thing there are no refusals in Starters/P1. hahaha.

Well, even if you feel like klutz out there, you look like you're holding your own against super fast Trax.

I always feel better when I see others get lost on the courses. The worst are when someone skips a whole section like if you have to complete one sequence twice and then they come off the field not realizing what happened. Been there done that too :biggrin2:

Thanks! It's taken us years to get this crazy thing down. Still working on it every day :wink2:
