Defender of a Good Nights Sleep

Honey needs a new title and that is Defender of a Good Nights Sleep.

Our cat likes to insist that we feed her around five in the morning, and in addition to being very insistent that we fill the dish (to the top, filling it at night right before we sleep doesn't cut it) she wants us to pet her while she eats as well.

Anyone without cats might think this is a silly thing to give into the cat on, but I can assure you not cooperating ends with us listening to any number of annoying sounds nonstop for as long as it takes for us to get up. So we've had five years of five am wakeups.

Until Honey decided she needed a new job. For the past couple of nights whenever the cat starts up her tricks, Honey runs onto the bed and chases her off. Than she plants herself down and firmly puts the cat in her place if she dares come back with anything other than sleep in her mind! Best puppy ever!

I've been trained to pile the cat dish high with kibble before I go to bed to avoid the 5am wake-ups.

But mine are the keepers of the kitchen counters and if the cat gets up there they get very upset and bark until she gets down. Protecting their turf I reckon, seeing as they both dogs counter surfers themselves. Deska is also the protector of the couch and will tell the cat off for scratching anything but the scratching post. Bless hm.

Go Honey !! Our kitteh is banished from the bedroom because of her relentless noise making antics when she is ready to eat but she will mess with the doorknob and stick her paw under the door and MEOW and try to get in the bedroom, but good ole Sally puts a stop to it...gotta love her for that.

Ah, Honey would never yell at the kitties for being on the counter. If the kitties are on the counter it means she might be able to convince them to fish a few treats out of the box and drop them on the floor for her, or if she's really lucky.. the whole box, as happened one blissful night when she was about seven months old...

Ohh yes bowls are filled before bed....and even than:mad: grrrr

However in the AM I put the puppies out at 6am, bring them back in and put them in their xpen in my family room...well kitty thinks its a great time to parade infront of the xpen, stick his feet though...play with the dogs toys, run in and out the dog door 900 times at warp speed.. etc....now said cat get locked in the crate otherwise its sheer bedlam as puppies try to kill the cat with barking:rolleyes2:

Well see, that's a good kitty, she's just trying to entertain the puppies for you so you can focus on other things.
