My best friend has one and makes all kinds of goodies for her 2 GSDs. She's given me several samples of her dog treats and my girls LOVE them! At least you know exactly what your dog treats contain.

Is it a mistake to get a really cheap dehydrator?

I would think, if you get a really cheap one, check out reviews from anywhere and everywhere, just in case. Cheap may not mean bad, but my friend who makes beef jerky, bought a few cheap ones that sucked.

    I read them,and was satisfied.

I do have to say,the 2 I had in NY I paid less than 25.00 for them, and I was very satisifed with them. They were not even close to the wattage that this one has.
For what I am going to use it for,it should be just fine.

I love the smell of the sweet potato drying - somewhat spicy. Reminds me of Thanksgiving.

Ok. As long as it's not bad like dehydrating meat or, omg, fish.

I have to admit part of the reason why I want to get a dehydrator is smell. I've been making liver treats in the oven and the smell is awful. I thought w/ a dehydrator I could at least put it in the garage. I might attract all the neighborhood dogs though. :eek2:
There's a dehydrator in the Aldi ad for $20. I'm sure it's low quality but, still it's tempting.
