He's about 10 weeks old- I'm thinking he's teething but when I try to get him to chew on his toys he seems to go right back to things he shouldn't be chewing on.

Yep..a crate~When you ca'nt keep your eye on them,its the safest place or an x-pen.

10 weeks,they are into everything it seems.As Jasper is now 15 weeks,and I do crate him,when I am not able to keep watch of him.Trapp on the other hand,I am truely blessed with him,and I'm hoping that Jasper will also follow his lead.

Trapp at nearly 8 months,is no longer crated at night or otherwise.He sleeps either with us,or in the living room with Earnhardt.Although lately he has been nesting for the night in the other living room.When we leave,he is left with Earnhardt in the house,free to roam.But never have we come home to a thing out of place.
Just lucky,I guess.
 
Yep, I kept mine in a puppy pen when I couldnt be watching them at that age. In fact, they really only got full access to the house after they were 2yrs old.
 
I'm a fan of baby/puppy gates.. limit access etc.. There are a few threads worth reading in this folder that might help as well.

Xpens are great too!

When Bacca got over a year, I put his crate in an Xpen so he could have a little more around space. And it made a lovely addition to my decor! :razz::no::wink2:
 
it is aways easeir to prevent bad behavior than reteach dog...
crate or x pen when you can't watch...
leash insideto yourself when you workinglets say at computer....
buy tons of chewies and every time when he puts his mouth on inapproprate object redirect him...
good news it only lasts for few months...
 
Let's see.
When Sassy was younger, we lost shoes and two cell phones and that was back in '97.
We got Mya when she was 12 months old and she liked to chew. My girls went through numerous of toys, I had to put bitter-apple on my furniture (she was instantly cured from that), crayons, and the cord between the keyboard and the computer psb.
I found that when Mya gets bored she likes to chew and having a rawhide to chew on was the best thing for her.:yes:
