Diarrhea!!! Ughhhhh

Piper's mom

Always fun when one of your dogs has diarrhea…Piper has been the unlucky one. And he doesn’t wake me up during the night to tell me he has to go! Fortunately we’re almost at the tail end of it! And I have virtually no carpets (except for the living room and bedroom) and Piper seems to like the spare bedroom and not the hallway (hardwood floor in bedroom, a dark laminate flooring in the hallway) where I’d have to tread carefully until I reach the hall light switch!
Poor guy has been feeling left out…in his eyes he’s feeling fine so doesnt understand why he doesn’t get his bedtime chew. Last night he had a small one and it didn’t affect him so that was a pleasant surprise for both of us lol.

Since my mom passed I’ve been very busy reorganizing my house. The living room once had a couch, 3 occasional chairs, 2 armoire’s and of course the coffee and end tables. I’ve got it down to the couch and chair and the coffee and end tables…and a tv…something we’ve never had in the living room for 10 years! And a new tv on the way…a 65”!
With Piper and his diarrhea I’m thankful I can close off the living room to keep him (and the other two) out at night! Aside from the diarrhea Blueberry and Finnie have taken to sleeping on the couch at night. While I let them on the couch when I’m in there I don’t want it to be their new bed😆.
The spare bedroom has become my new dining room (this was the former tv room)…it already had the table and China cabinet so it wasn’t much of a stretch to change it.

I’m planning on having a garage sale in August so I have to get rid of a lot of stuff! My mom was a bit of a pack rat! This is what has been keeping me away from here of late…I’m usually going from sun up until 6-7 pm and then I collapse into bed exhausted at the end of the day! It’s a lot for one person to do! And I haven’t even begun going through my stuff or the basement!

But I’m happy to report that Blueberry is once again playing with Finnie…this has been an ongoing issue for at least 8 months! I’d thought at one point maybe she was in heat (we had the ovary sparing spay done on her) there’s no spotting so only behavioural changes but it’s gone on for so long! I’ve decided it’s just Blueberry being Blueberry! It wasn’t unusual for her to either hide under the table or actually growl at Finnie when he attempted to initiate play. It’s so nice to FINALLY see them run and play! And it’s all the time now! There probably was some depression with my mom being gone but this was going on long before she passed.

Piper of course is his usual self…I have been giving him his cracker from the night table (my mom’s routine) so he’s a beast at mooching! Hard when he has diarrhea and I can’t give him one! He is on the thyroid medication…I haven’t really noticed any changes, he’s just on a very low dose…he goes for more bloodwork soon so perhaps we need to increase his dosage.

And just 5 months until my trip…I did modify it and am now staying in Vancouver for 4 nights instead of just the one. I figured why travel all the way to Vancouver only to leave the next day! I have booked a tour which includes crossing the Capillano bridge…not sure yet if I’m actually going to do it…I have a slight fear of heights! Christmas Day will be a wash…perhaps I’ll go to the show (most everything is closed) and Boxing Day (a holiday here) I’ll probably go shopping . The tour is on December 27 and I return on December 28.
My brother in law will be watching the dogs when I go so no worries there. I catch the train on December 21 and am back in Winnipeg on December 30 (barring any delays lol and the train is always late!) …I’m certain I will keep a close eye on the dogs while I’m gone!

Oh poor Piper and poor you. No it is never fun when they have diarrhea, and especially with all that long hair! Glad about the rest of your news though. Your trip sounds wonderful and I'm glad your BIL can watch the pups so you have a stress free vacation.
