Disney doesn't want to poop in snow.

Can you shovel a patch of snow right down to the grass for him, if he does not like going on the snow? Maybe if he sees the grass he will go.
 
Our problem is the 'Ara's usually run around for a while before they go pee. But in this weather, we aren't letting them outside long. It's just far too cold. We don't have Canada Shelties, we have Indiana shelties and 40 below is too cold.

Bonnie goes out, but gives us a look that says, "Uh hun, when I see you squat out here, I'LL squat out here." She is old and wise.
 
So sorry you're having that problem. My Hanna loves the snow - she looks for the biggest pile or the deepest spot to do her business. Yesterday we were at a friends house with a fully fenced yard and she had an absolute blast running through the snow. We had a hard time getting her to come back indoors.
 
Disney actually loves playing in the snow. He will dig a hole and bury his head and then pop his head up with a snowy face. I think it's just the cold that he is having the problem with. Too cold on his paws! Also all the pee spots get coverd every other day by more snow and the scent is gone. He has been doing better that past two days but the temp today is 15 below so I just can't let him out that long. Like many of you have mentioned he had to work it up by walking around and it's just too cold for that. I have talked to doggie friends in town and most of us are having the same problem. Hopefully it will warm up soon. We are all getting a little stir crazy. We need a good long Sheltie walk very soon.
