DIY Built-in Dog Kennel Under the Stairs!

Michael, this is the most impressive Sheltie-Dad project ever! You're a true craftsman -- your family must be so proud of you! Thanks for sharing this incredible work. I think you're going to wind up in Architectural Digest -- or at the very least, on Pintrest!

Thank you Cris for such kind words! That would truly be something if I could end up on those! :fl

Really nice workmanship, and a very cute Sheltie to boot! Is that a shadow box for toys I spy? I want a clubhouse like that for myself please.

Thank You! Yes its a shadow box, I've been calling it his very own built-in book case, modeled after the ones i built around our fireplace. But he loves it! I built his 4 inches deep so it can hold his favorite toys and treats. I also added a light inside of it thats connected to the dimmer switch as well. lol sometimes i cant stop myself from going overboard

cut ---Why thank you Hanne! I'll tell you a secret, If that project would've went south, my wife would have buried me in the backyard next to one of Kenji's old toys LOL
oh my G--, think of all the other poor dogs dads, none of them can certainly not reach you to "socks" :biggrin2:

Wow... this is amazing!!! Your attention to detail is superb! My DH is quite the handyman himself... good thing (for him!) we don't have a space in our house to do something like this, or else this would be one more thing added to his honey-do list!

Kenji is adorable! (and not one bit spoiled, I can tell!) :-)

Thanks so much for sharing this project! I am sure it was a lot of hard work on your part, but the end result well worth it.

Wow! That's really impressive. If I had stairs, I'd be talking somebody into doing this for me. It's so much nicer that Harry Potter's room under the stairs :biggrin2:

Kenji is just gorgeous. He's growing up to be a very handsome guy.

Thanks for sharing this. Now I have stair envy

Beezy, I just got a chance to sit down with my coffee and take close-up looks at all the pictures. It was 15 minutes of "OMG! there's a camera!" and "OMG! There's a little window!" and "Dang! How come my miter cuts never turn out like that?" It's so well-done and so practical/beautiful that, should you someday decide to sell this house, any buyer with dogs or little kids would probably snatch the place up the minute they saw the magical little room under the stairs.

Have to add my voice to everyone else's - this is a fantastic & creative use of space. Your wife should be extra nice to you :biggrin2:
