Do dogs have ESP?

yeah, they definitely pick up something from their owners.

Waking up this morning, the boys were not normal, even before their normal breakfast time. Bacca crawled under the bed and Indy didn't even blink before I got up to get a cup of coffee.

Even though, I fed Indy (while Bacca wasn't looking), Indy could not settle....he paced and paced and paced. Somehow he knew that Bacca did not get his breakfast.

After I dropped Bacca off at the vet, Indy plunked himself next to me and would not move all afternoon. I think he sensed my anxiety too.

And when I came home from the vet, well, it did not not take ESP to sense my mood. The boys were torn between snuggling up or hiding.....:(
 
Dogs have very keen senses, and through those senses they create a baseline in their own environment; any deviation from the baseline, however small, stresses them to the point where it arouses their attention, sense of caution, and even fear. Because their senses are so keen, they can detect tiny changes in the intonation of a human's voice, even though, to the human, no change has been made at all.

With my last dog I could say, "Boo Boo, come on over here!" and he'd come zooming over, ready for whatever fun was at hand. When I went to give him a bath I'd say "Boo Boo, come on over here!" in what to me was the exact same happy tone of voice, and he'd hide under the bed!
 
I absolutely do think dogs have some sort of extra sensory perception. Or maybe they are just very, very, very sensitive to their owners emotions.

Neechee was 17 years old when I married my second husband. We still lived with my parents for a while afterwards. Neechee would get highly indignant at night because there was no room for him to sleep in my bed. (I did make him a bed in a laundry basket that was up near the head of the bed, and that settled him down.

A couple months later, we had just returned home from my uncle's house in Shreveport (of course, Neechee went too - I took him everywhere with me his last year). He was nice and feisty on the trip, and wanted to sit in new hubby's lap most of the time. A day or so after we came home, he did find for a while, then within a couple of hours, he just suddenly had a seizure. He'd had one the year before, and that's why I took him with me everywhere. He began crying out in pain and confusion about 4am on morning, and I knew what was coming. My mom drove me to the ER vet, and my dad and husband came along a little later. I looked into his eyes and he looked into mine, and I knew it was time to say goodbye. He died in my arms and I held him for a very long time.

That dog knew me so well. When the fist husband started to get abusive, both dogs (border colllie and sheltie) would start growling viciously at him whenever he'd try to come in the bedroom. They would guard my bed all night long. After Max had to go with my ex, Neechee took over the job of taking care of me through 16 major surgeries. He was a certified therapy dog, and was allowed to visit me at the hospital on certain days. He always knew when I wasn't feeling well, and he'd be much more cuddly those days, and on the days I felt better, He'd want to play ball.

I am convinced he felt responsible for my emotional well-being, and he waited around for someone to take over before he could go. New hubby fit the bill. so the job was passed from Neechee to him.
 
My two know when I have my keys in hand mom is going out.

They also know if I am out of my play clothes I am going out.

If I am going to sneeze, oh my Lil' Lady senses that.

They do sense when a storm is coming.

Both of mine understand my body language, and I understand theirs.

They definitely know everything. For example I came home sick from work early one day last week. I was worried that Shelby would be wired up and not leave me sleep. Well she must have known because after going outside I slept on the sofa and she didn't bother me once. She just laid on the otoman watching me. She didn't even wake me when DH got home. She left me sleep all night. I was sick for a good week and not once did she bug me for anything.

dont know about dogs, but in one case, wolves do.

A domesticate pair of wolves in a cage in Alaska go into hyper drive when the owner is driving home, and is within a mile of his house. Happens every time.
 
As a Dog Whisperer fan, I believe it when he says its all about the energy. We think we are hiding things and probably are from people, but its oozing out our pores to our dogs :smile2:
 
I forgot I posted on this already. Dumb. I have been so busy, and too far behind.
