Dog wakes and barks during the night.

One of my shelties, eight year old Remo, barks every night beginning about 1:30 as to say he needs to go potty. I get up and head to the door but he doesn't go out. I tell him it's bed time and climb back in bed. Repeat this sequence approximately every hour and fifteen minutes. I don't know how to make him stop. Both dogs are loose in the house and don't cause any other issues. I am thinking its an attention/anxiety issue as this has been happening the last four months.
All advice is appreciated.

my first thought, have him checked by your vet for any UTI and such.
second is, how is he durn the day?

There is a supplement called Chlodin that might help. You should be able to get it at your vet or online probably. Has he been in for a check up lately ?

I agree with the vet check first, before trying random solutions to an unknown cause.

It could be physical, physiological, or mental.

Or call me crazy, maybe there is something in the environment that is happening during those times which she is rightly alerting too?
