Dry, wet, hard, soft.....

Wellness actually does have a high fibre content, and some dogs don't handle this as well as others.

Perhaps try another equally high-quality food with a lower fibre count, like Eagle Pack or Innova.

Nattering Springs Diet

We feed Layla, Bitsy Boodle and Annie Laurie either Pinnacle or Evo. They seems to enjoy having a switch every coupe of months, and since they're both great healthy foods, wo have no food change problems. Of course, all three of them would digest nails given half a chance! Both foods are all natural, no "crap." They also get "fish gum" (fish oil capsules, 2 each AM and PM. Layla, our first, started on Eukanuba, which she didn't seem to like. Finally one day she ate it, looked at me, and threw it all up. "Mommie, I told you it makes me sick!" How embarrasing -- her great grandpa was one of the Eukanuba Champions:lol:

Jack, our one year old sable, is just finishing his last bag of Eagle Pack Puppy. I usually give him about 1/2 c. in the morning and evening, moistened with about 2 large T. of Beneful wet Complete, mixed with a little water. He doesn't seem to like the dry food alone. Am I hurting him to mix it with the wet Beneful? Or just spoiling him? He is about 17" at the shoulder, and 26 lbs. Thank you for your input.

I switched from regular Wellness to Wellness Core six months ago, and have nothing but good things to say (well, except about the price :o)!

For my senior double merle, Snowy, I wet it down a bit (as she only has a few teeth), but the dogs only get wet rarely as a treat.

I like the newer Wellness canned, with no preservatives and no additives
(95% pure meat). Every few weeks, I get a can and devide it among them.

I have two Shelties and two Border Collies. They are given two small meals daily of home-cooked meat (chicken or beef) and vegetables mixed with kibble "Natural Balance Sweet Potato & Venison." They have free access to the "Natural Balance" during the day but usually only snack in the evening. If I switch to kibble other than venison, such as duck, they are disappointed. Taste wise it must be pretty good.

I am always interested in new recipes, especially for home-made, healthy dog treats.

Switching

Thanks Spak, I just might do that do see what happens with his stool. He was 1 1/2 years old when I got him and absolutely terrified. His appetite wasn't that great at first so I tried different things to get him to eat. One of the things that seemed to work was wetting the kibble and adding a bit of canned food to it. I honestly never considered trying to back off the extras to see if he'd eat kibble only now. He may be getting a little spoiled... *cough*

My dogs are using Life's Abundance and are doing extremely well on it. I have two Shelties and a Schipperke who love it. I like the fact it is made in small batches so it's always fresh, the ingredients are high quality and all three dogs can eat the same formula. I order it over the internet and it comes in just two days.

Every Thursday evening there is a question and answer session with the product formulator, Dr. Jane Bicks. What a great way to get any questions you might have answered.

When I got my girl sheltie, her foster mom had been feeding her Nutro Natural Choice Lamb and Rice, and it was *okay*. Smelly soft poo, awful coat (though she hadn't been groomed either in months), and she had this doggie smell overall, like wet dog, even though she wasn't wet.

I slowly transitioned her over to a raw veggie/cooked chicken diet like I had my boy sheltie on, but my girl sheltie's stool/coat/smell issues didn't improve that much with that diet either, plus I wanted kibble to put into her treat dispensing toys. So, I switched to feeding her only Canidae All Life Stages, and she has firm small stools, not much smell at all to them, her coat is glossy and soft, AND she lost her wet dog smell! *happy dance*

So, Canidae is working great so far. They were a Whole Dog Journal recommendation, and my favorite local pet boutique happened to carry Canidae, so it's easy for me to buy.

Hello everyone as I'm in Scotland I've not heard of a lot of the foods your posting about, I do agree with the comments about Iams and eukanuba though, horrible disgusting foods, I'm afraid that anything made by P&G is banned in my house. At the moment I'm feeding a food that you can only get over here called Burns http://www.burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk/ but I am just about to change over to a food that comes from Canada it's called Orijen and is supposed to be an excellent food http://www.championpetfoods.com/orijen/about/, my sister feeds one of her dogs on it amazed at the difference it's making to him.
