Dual fastener leash not for two dogs?

After Spitfire's adventure I am looking for ways to better secure him. I would like to have a leash that has a hook for his collar and a second for his harness. They have the two clip leads for two dogs but they are 24" and I was hoping for something shorter so he doesn't get tangled.

Anyone know of a source for a two clip one dog lead?
 
I wonder if you could use nylon thread and an embroidery needle and put a tuck in a longer dual extension to make it the length you want? I've considered doing the same for Olive for extra security but haven't done much research into looking for one.
 
Cubby is in a fear phase and I am doing just the same thing. I have a very very no slip harness (Ruffwear Webmaster) but I hate to make it "that" tight since he has to wear it for a 1 hour drive each way for anything we do. With A LOT of effort he can possibly pull out but it would take A LOT of effort. He never backed until this past week and I am hoping this is short term.

What I did is I used a too-large martingale and made it fairly loose so it doesn't pull on the neck but the chain meets up with my leash where the harness clip is. The leash clips to the martingale and the harness. He won't get out of that rig because he will have to pull out of the harness and it won't go over the chain so it is sort of held in place.

It looks like this. I did this when he was a pup and pulled out of his cheap harness when my mom had him at the beach.

"I" would look worse than going into the briars if I tried to sew :o
 
I have never actually seen one of these...they get excellent reviews except for one person who wrote in that it was so short that it didn't allow her dogs to move easily...so that might be short enough to work for you to do the double clip to collar and harness? It comes in small and large size.
