Ear Glueing Ripped Out

So I glued Herbie's ears the other day, and it was going fine until today when I noticed one of his ears came undone, but when I looked it tore the hair from his head and now there is a little bald spot where his ear was :( Now I don't really know what to do, I undid his other ear.

A while back when, I glued my old shelties ears, she tore at her ears so much that she tore all the fur and skin off her ears--they were completely raw. Since then I just haven't bothered to worry to much about my sheltie's ears. I don't show my dogs, they are "just" my best friends, and I'll love them however they look. My Buddy at 7 months now has hound ears--to me they look just fine. If you are going to show your dog, then you are going to have to find different ways to try and fix Herbie's ears. Their are a lot of different techniques. Good Luck.

Well I made it through my first "re-glue." It took almost 45 minutes to fully dissolve the glue ball between Ariel's ears and wash the fur.

I did have to snip out a few pieces because they were just so full of glue it was impossible to save them. I gave her a break and let her fur air dry, then got down to the business of re-gluing. I hope it holds 2 weeks!

Surprisingly, she isn't scratching at her ears. When the glue between her ears gave way she was scratching a lot. Now she isn't bothered at all so that's a relief.

I used Tear Mender, which I got from the breeder, to re-glue and it works great. The bottle said it takes 3 minutes to set but it holds almost immediately. Good stuff!

Well I have to say, your little girl is precious, and those ears look fantastic. My breeder told me to use Tear Mender and I could not find that stuff anywhere. GREAT JOB! Somebody said they have it at Walmart. I had to end up using false eyelash adhesive, never thought of Walmart at the time.

You can take the glue off and re-glue in a different spot. Just make sure that the glue does NOT contact the skin. When Chinook came to me, his ears were glued improperly - ie. the glue was on his skin and it was irritating him. He was scratchin and scratching at them. When I re-did them, he was fine. Maia's ears would come undone too. It was and is very frustrating, but I keep at it. Chinook's ears turned out well, but Maia's only the tip, the very tip, tips

I used Tearmender too! I love it!!
I over cooked one ear on each dog...LOL..but it makes them..them..
Good luck with your puppies ears..shes is a cutie..looks like you have them glued right now!!
