I haven't had a chance to upload the video yet but I couldn't wait to post some brags. Hopefully I can upload the video tonight while watching TV.
A huge brag to Glen (CelticFire) and CJ - they scored their FIRST Perfect Weekend, 10 Qs out of 10 runs! They've been close, usually 9 out of 10, for the past 3 trials and finally accomplished it this year, two years after they started trialing. (They've competed in 8 CPE trials since June 2011.) As a comparison, it took Edan and I 3 years to earn our first Perfect Weekend so a major HATS OFF to Glen and CJ!
Glen and CJ also earned their CL3-H (CPE Level 3 Handling) title for earning 3 level 3 Qs in the Colors and Wildcard games. They are also in position to earn most of the other level 3 titles at our August trial.
I'm SO proud of how far they've come!
Edan and I had 9 out of 10 Qs this weekend. The missed Q was completely my fault. In Jackpot I forgot we could still earn points after the buzzer even tough we couldn't try the gamble until after the buzzer. (The judge called it a 'non-traditional traditional jackpot'.) When the buzzer went off, my brain went into "gamble" mode. I sent Edan on ahead of me to start the gamble and he took the wrong entrance to the tunnel even though the right entrance was just off to his left side and closer to him. I heard the judge call out "3", for the three point obstacle but my brain didn't click that I could have turned him around and sent him back in the right side and still completed the gamble. I just ran him out thinking I botched the gamble.
Oh well! The run was great over all. Edan was fast and accurate and did what I told him to do.
Later in the day, 2nd to last run of the day - Colors, Edan was the 2nd fastest dog in our level (level 5). A 20" Vizsla was .48 seconds faster. I was shocked that my little 12" jumping Sheltie, who is not known for speed, was that fast. Admittedly, Colors is a short course but this judge created a short course with some handling challenges.
Overall, it was a great weekend for Edan and I.
Next weekend - CPE NATIONALS!
