Enough Indy! Stop Chewing Plastic!

bullysticks?

I just looked at bullysticks.com because I would like an alternative to rawhides for my 2 dogs. OMG! I've never really known what bully sticks were and I would have never guess they are that particular bull part! Anyway what size do you get for your Sheltie(s)?
 
Sca is the rawhide king, he gets German Shepherd sized ones. It is one thing he will take back from Spitfire

Thanks for recommending this site! I've been looking for some reasonably priced raw hide!

My dogs like to play with a variety of things, like rope toys, old socks, anything they can tug on, etc. For chewing they easily like raw hide the best. They like raw bones too but they loose interest by the time they're dried out enough to have in the house.

Smart Bones are actually made in China.

Bailey has many behavioral issues, but thankfully does not have a chewing problem.

She does occasionally get an American-made rawhide, frozen carrot, Merrick Flossie, Bully Stick or Bravo free-dried duck feet.

I chew! I chew hoofs for dogs mom gets at the agway stor! they are gud. I chew cigaret packs. I quit smoking. I chew celery. I chew sticks. I chew banana peels. I chew paper. The bird shreds paper. I chew it wen it falls on the floor. I wait for it. I luv to chew.
I am in my crate wen mom and dad are not home. becuz I chew.

Riley gets 12 inch bully sticks, which typically last 5-7 days. A 6 inch braided bully stick also does the trick.
 
I had to explain bully sticks to a customer today.....There were 3 customers lined up behind her at the time. I have to admit that I fumbled the answer...."Well, uuuhm, they part of a bull's anatomy that gets removed when they are gelded....you know, what I mean? Uuum, don't tell your husband.. Trust me though your dogs will love them" The woman looked at me blankly....."Well, its a bull's *****!" Eyes opened wide. No sale!

OK....got work on the sales technique apparently! :razz:

How much chew time per day does he get? Just trying to decide whether I want to try them.

LOL Barb! I don't envy you trying to explain that, especially with the added stress of doing so in front of a line of people. I think you did really well. :smile2:

I could be wrong, but I don't think the p3nis is ever removed from a bull, I think they're only ever castrated (t3sticles removed). I think the p3nises come from meat cows, just like all the other parts used for dog chews.

That being said, I have to admit, the thought of having dried out cow p3nises laying around my house and being chewed on by my dogs is REALLY revolting. Not sure if I'll be able to get past my aversion. I find it hard enough with other animal parts, bully 'sticks' may be just a bit too much for me. I can certainly never tell my husband what they are. :rolleyes2:

When they are castrated the part removed are called cow fries or rocky mountain oysters, or I am sure there are many other names :eek2:
