Epileptic Attaks and other health problems

My daughter Margarita has a Sheltie (Zoe) of almost three years old, daughter of my two Shelities (Scott & Beba) that are very healthy but she is not.
She began with epileptic attacks about a year ago, gain weight, have skin allergy and now she can not walk. The vets say they she has a problem in the articulation of the femur with the hip with a high risk of becoming paralytic
I wonder if you have had a case like this and what are the expectations for our beloved Sheltie Zoe?
Thank you for al the advise you could give us,
Affectionately,
Margarita.

Welcome to SN.

Have you had Zoe's thyroid checked...it is a simple blood test. Weight gain and skin issues are typical symptoms of low thyroid and sometimes thyroid problems can cause seizures too.

You mention that Zoe can't walk...do you mean she walks with a limp and is obviously in pain or can she literally not move?

Trini,
Thank you very much for your advise. My daughter sent to be done the
Thyroid exam and she has hypothyroidism. The vet is going to take another blood example to confirm it as Zoe is taking potassium bromide for the seizures that the neurologist recommended... They lower the dose and my daughter saw
Zoe today much more better.
When I have the new test and the vets diagnosis I will let you know.
Thanks again,
Margarita

I am so glad you had the thyroid testing done and that your vet will do a second test to make sure that Zoe actually does need thyroid meds. It sounds like you have really good medical care for little Zoe.

Good wishes for Zoe...and thank-you for the update on how she is doing. :smile2:
