Fabric choice

Our leather seating needs to be replaced as it is covered in scratches and the frame from Willow over the years. I am wondering what fabric I should use. Perhaps I should use leather that starts with a color or pattern that doesn't show scratches up that easily. Microfiber seems popular and is less expensive but I've never used it before.

Anyone with experience with avoiding scratches?

I’m thankful that over the years we’ve never taught the dogs to look out the window! Lol
The only dog that is entitled enough to go on the couch is Blueberry…our fabric of choice is a baby gate (it’s actually 2 panels from the puppy pen) that we keep in front of the couch 😂.
But I know if they really wanted to look out the window (which fortunately they could care less) it wouldn’t stop them! Lol

Our family room furniture is microfiber and while I was initially quite concerned... it's been awesome! Bonus us that cats don't seem to care for it so while they lay on it, not destruction.

We do have 2 leather chairs in the family room - the one closest to the window where Brodie does most of his Neighborhood Watch duty was quite scratched up. I bought Shabeibei Leather Recoloring off Amazon which covered everything up really nicely, it looked horrid going on, you use very little of it I discovered and lots of elbow grease to get it to move around. I let it dry for a long time, then eventually I will get around to using some type of moisturizer.

Our leather couch in the living room is Deacon's favorite spot to sneak off to for a nap. It, too, has some scratches but have not addressed yet. I did buy some tacky fake microfiber slip-on cushion covers but remove them when we know we have company coming.
