We'll all keep a good thought for Dasher, Tracy. What a good thing that your groomer found the lump early. My 10 year old, Ivy, had a fatty tumor on her leg that also came up suddenly that was surgically removed last fall. She'd had it for several years and we didn't remove it on the advice of the vet since it wasn't bothering her. By the time we did decide to have it done it was huge and the vet said once he shaved her he'd never seen one so big. It took nearly 20 stitches to close it! She healed just fine though, and the lump tested benign. Let us know how the surgery works out for Dasher!

I will keep Dasher in my prayers to Saint Francis. He is the Saint for Animals. I'm sure he will do fine. Chin up and remember we are all pulling for him and you for strength.:wink2:
 
Thank you for your prayers for my Dasher.

He goes in for surgery on the fatty tumor this month. On the 29th of April. His Vet Dr. England is such a good Vet and surgeon. I have a lot of confidence in him. We live in Jackson, Michigan and I just read your post to us Elaine. I feel much better that Dasher is in your prayers. "THANK YOU" so much. I will let everyone know how he's doing after the surgery and he is back home with us all.
He has a little bro named Rascal (Yorkie, that just loves Dasher), little sis Spanky (Chihuahua), Mischa (Black spayed cat), Hamstie(Fancy Hamster), Momma and Daddy.:winkgrin:

:wink2:We are so glad to join all of you Sheltie Lovers. I will let everyone know how Dasher does after the surgery. I have looked at Sheltie Nation for quite awhile but never joined the forum. This is pretty cool to know how many Shetland Sheepdog people are out there.

I don't know if you believe in homeopathic remedies, if you do you might like to think about giving Dasher Arnica for a few days before his op and continue it afterwards, I gave Arran it before and after he was neutered and he healed at an amazing rate. Have a read about it on the internet and see what you think.
I must admit ever since my sister found a cancerous lump on her staffie I've always checked for lumps and bumps on my dogs, I just run my hands all over their wee hairy bodies once a week or so.

Dasher is in my prayers, Tracy. Terri, you bring up a very important point. Petting is more than just a way to show your dog you love your Sheltie. It's a diagnostic tool, too. :yes:
 
Hi Everyone this is Dasher's Mom, Tracy.

Well, I did it. Dasher is now under the care of Dr. England and having the fatty tumor removed today. He got there at around 8:30am on this morning the 29th of April. I'll write more when he comes home and I have more to tell everyone.:yes:
 
We're thinking about you and Dasher, Tracy, and sending prayers and good thoughts. I'm sure St. Francis will watch over him and bring him home safely once he's done. Do let us know how it goes.
