Feet Hair

Oh, Meggie hides when she sees the dremel, brush or scissors, but once I get her out and begin she sits still until the end. I wouldn't say she enjoys it, more like she tolerates it.

And I use scissors to cut the hair between her pad. The majority of my house is ceramic tile, so she slips around easily if the hair is too long.

I trim Baxter's and Fergus' feet with scissors. I lay them on their side on the floor and trim away. They are very good with it. I take them to the vet for their nails though. They get them much shorter then I would dare to cut.

I don't think so. That's a type of carpet, right? Is that the stuff they have at world team try-outs? Is that common up in your area?

I mostly train and compete on grass, field turf w/rubber granules or dirt. There's just this one facility that has an indoor ring (convenient for pouring rain and winter!) with these slippery stall mats. I've never run on carpet before.

Yes, Max Trax is a type of carpet and I have run on it a few times in NY and Boston. It is slippery but I use this stuff for Shadow's feet and he was fine on it. Alot of the bigger dogs had probelms with it.I am not sure if they use it for world team tryouts.It is common in our area to use it but it also depends on where the trial is being held.It seem like alot of this winter trials are in NH and they are being run on horse mats.

Hmmm....I bought a hair trimmer, but haven't used it. The sound of it scared Koji, so I figured I'd put it away until he got older (this was during his scared of everything phase - which he seems to be going through again).

Miko makes a run for it, but once I catch him, I flip him over and he puts up with me. Miko also makes a run for it if I turn on the shower (regardless if its for him or not).

Koji, strangely, will come to me. I think it's because he likes the toothpaste and a nail/fur trim always ends with teeth brushing. He loves to pull his hind feet away, like I'm trying to cut off his toes or something. But otherwise, he's getting more and more used to it.

OT question: how often do you guys trim their nails? Miko's only needs it about 1-2 weeks. Koji, about 1-2 PER WEEK.

HAHAHAHA! Everytime somebody is running bathwater or taking a shower Smudge will run past the bathroom with his head low and his tail ducked.

Fluffy will stand in front of the doorway or maybe sit down.

With Jasper,he is on the grooming table evn if it for quick stuff,only because I want him to be really comfy up there.So every week I am taking the tips off his nails.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed,that his nail wear will be like Trapp's.The amount of running,digging etc..seems to keep Trapp's in check.But he gets a looking at every other week,and trim if needed.

Hair between pads is checked and trimmed,even if its a quickie.I'm a fanatic about messy hair on thier feet.They look so much neater when their feet are done.

I trim on the bottoms of their feet approx. once a month. I also trim around their paws and between their toes to get the cute cat feet look. I use a dremel on their nails once a month also.

I could probably do both bi-weekly if I had the time.

Neither one really like it, but instead tolerate it.

Diva, I trimmed her nails or dermel(but dermel is broken now)once a week.
Justice and Ember every 2 weeks. Trim the hair every 2-4 weeks for Justcie and Ember. I'm not allowed to touch Diva.
