Femoral Head Fracture

Glad she came thru the surgery so well, I know all about chicken leg, it does look really pathetic. I know the healing process will be a bit long but really hoping all the therapy and care means a much more comfortable and mobile life for her.
Lots of hugs to little Olive....

And we're back!

Olive finished PT after 3 months (still hates water but she started on Xanax and that vastly improved her quality of life anyway), she's a little out of shape now since I've been in PT for going on 5 months and DH had a slight farm accident. But she went on vacation with several other small dogs this weekend and she was running around and is generally pretty happy with life. She tracks straighter now which is awesome. Downside is her sit stays are kind of useless, the leg just slips out on the mats- so we're switching to Preferred, I don't think she's upset with that, she never liked the stays anyway:wink2:

Her poor rear is so slow to grow back fur. We can at least confirm she's a sable, not agouti since there's clear demarcation of coat color instead of banded.https://flic.kr/p/QJJSbx

Thanks for the update. Sounds like you have a very accident prone household ;). It's good to hear she's doing well, how do you find she goes after running around - does she get sore at all? I know Tully still loves chasing bunnies but she does get a sore hip afterwards and limps sometimes and lays prone on her side (I'm trialling her on Gabapentin atm, seems to be working). I do think she's often throwing her back out because of the way she runs/limps, rather than it always being the bad hip.

And yes, I have to say, that leg looks the weirdest fur re-growth I've seen.

She's on Dasaquin Advanced- VOSM recommends it for all their patients. She seems to get a little tight in her back but I think cavaletti work to build up the right muscles would help.
