I have not been writing much about our progress in agility since we have just gotten back to training about a couple of months ago.We had done 2 trials in the Fall and then took a Winter break which turned into a Spring break when we bought our new house.
Long story short, this is our 2nd trial this summer. We were entered in a Standard and a Jumpers run.
The Standard was not a great run. It started with the first jump and directly into the 12 pole weaves which Kyara did not approve of
. We tried the weaves 4 times (bumped out on the last pole for the last 3 tries) and I saw she was losing interest so we just kept going after that but her focus was not great for the rest either. Although she did get the table right (last trial she jumped on and jumped off 2 times) she *vigorously and proudly* jumped her dog-walk contact looking at me like it was just the best thing she had ever done
. I had her redo the dog-walk since we had a bit of time left and that time she did a nice 2o2o.
I think I still need to work on getting her more independent on the weaves as well as on the dog walk contact. At least she had fun.
As for the Jumpers run, it went great! It was actually pouring right before we started so I was worried we would both be distracted by that but it did not change a thing. I must say that the only bad part in the run was that I couldn't catch up to Kyara
. I'm pretty proud that when that happened, she adapted herself to me and I was able to catch up and direct her to the tire and final jump. I'm going to have to work on my cardio and also on being able to send Kyara straight ahead with better distance from me.
Now here is the extra-bragging part, not only did we Q but we got first place on 7 dogs.
Now even more bragging... we got Best Run in all the specials category for that run so first place on 11 dogs
.
Here is my girl with her Q ribbon, 1st place ribbon and Best Run Toy.
