Toffee's Mom

Trial season finally opened for the year, this was only our third full standard ever entered, and our first Standard Q...
So I am hoping we are off to a good start! We had a bit of an issue where Toffee ROLLED around in ALL the tunnels during the first run, a gamblers course...
I thought going in that I had to worry about contacts, as he had another teeter flyoff just this week and that always makes him loose confidence doing the dogwalk for some reason... But nope, contacts were ok
... the gamble was super tricky anyhow so a Q was unlikely, so I figured I use it as a training run and I wanted to just make him take the dogwalk to see what I had... I most certainly didn't anticipate he'd roll around in the tunnels rubbing his face at the entrances and insides like he does with freshly laundered sheets, lol or freshly treated lumber, NO idea what it was!!
Was funny... but made me nervous for the next run,

In starters you can make a mistake in the weaves or contacts, but no refusals on jumps or off ... and we have to down on the table...
My heart Q was this one and it's a crappy quality sometimes I don't know why people can't just POINT AND SHOOT, therefore sorry about the not being in focus
This was our jumpers run and my first ever *GASP* blind cross... lollll
Remember me saying no no no, never do it... well YES you guys were all right... The tables have turned and our handling in the group I train with has definitely changed, too... Guess, can't stand still and always need to keep learning! bahahahah, was told afterwards that a couple of oldtimers gasped and said wow that was amazing
and we all know I am not one of the best handlers... It was so was nice to hear, nice boost to my confidence.
Course time was 27 seconds, and that's amazing for Mr Toffee and his short strides.... I think some of the jump grids and speed circles did pay off, he's not stutter stepping as much and I just told myself: Screw it, run like the cops are chasing me, trust my dog to do his job, have fun and bloody well go for it... and I did!
I was SO happy after this run I could have cried.

I pulled him off the jump into me after the second tunnel because (like a fool) I clapped my hands to get him out of there so he wouldn't roll in it, lol.. of course that made him came into me, but I was able to push him out again on his line and he took it like a champ, I was driving it as hard as I could, right to the end of that tunnel and that is where I thought the blind cross comes in handy, no time like the present to try it out and it worked
Also Leo did great saying hi to everyone and it's so nice to have a dog that isn't reactive at those events, LOL... he also took a couple of jumps during the breaks, he certainly has loads of enthusiasm!
Here are the boys at the field outside for a little break and play with their friend Pinto.
So all in all a good trial and lots of learning opportunities for me, hoping it's coming together for all three of us
