Flurry's Latest Challenge - UPDATE

Flurry had her first surgery yesterday to remove the growth on her colon. It went well and she's home and doing well. Now the stress of waiting for the biopsy results begins. If it's benign, we'll wait a bit for her to heal and then my surgeon will set her up for gallbladder removal surgery if her colon doesn't require any further treatment. Her surgeon was unsure of what it might be after removing the growth, so it was clear she wasn't totally optimistic that we're in the clear. Biopsy results will take about a week. Please send some prayers for my poor medically challenged girl.

I am hopeful that your results come back showing nothing. Did your Vet say she got clear margins when she did the procedure? Wlll say a prayer while you are waiting for the results.

No, she couldn't guarantee clean margins because it was embedded in the tissue. She said she did her best, but it was "marginal". Doesn't fill me with confidence. Of course I'm a glass-nearly-empty person. 🙏

I’m glad Flurry had her surgery at last and I’ll keep her in my noughts and prayers that the biopsy results come back negative! She’s a tough cookie that girl! Hopefully you get the results quickly as well so you can get he GB surgery scheduled!
The best thing to give for fighting cancer (even as a preventative) is spirulina and Chaga. They both boost the immune system, spirulina improves the gut health, can alleviate allergy symptoms and can help improve coat health among other benefits.
I know you give Chaga Ann, but definitely consider giving Spirulina if you don’t already. The combination of the two makes for greater health benefits.

Thanks for this info, Lisa. I do give Chaga, plus other mushrooms as well. After one of their surgeries my holistic vet said the single most important thing you can do to combat cancer is mushrooms, so I've followed that protocol. Interestingly, spirulina is in her colon supplement, so I think we have that covered. I hope they're enough to pull her through this. I appreciate the advice!

Finally some good news! I got the call today that Flurry's colon biopsy was benign. HOORAY!! What a relief. Now we can proceed with the gallbladder surgery once she's healed. She's totally back to normal, eating, playing and being her bouncy, barky self, so I don't think it will be too long. Waiting to hear from the surgeon with her thoughts.
