Food and treats.

As for raw, why do you have to feed it outside? Both of mine eat raw in the kitchen, in fact, most raw fed dogs I know eat indoors.

Because, sadly, the house I live in is not mine. I live with my mom and dad. Since I don't have to pay bills I pretty much pick my battles with Smudge, and this one was not worth fighting for me. My mom was concerned that he would get sick, or that the uncooked food would result in salmonella being spread. She said what I did with him was my business, but that if I was going to give him uncooked meals I would have to do so outside. It was causing a huge argument, and I decided to let it drop. I can't go outside to feed Smudge in pouring rain, terrible heat, or freezing weather.

I bought a bag of Zuke's, but got the wrong kind. :rolleyes2: So I gave it to uncle to give to his pom (I wanted the mini naturals but got another Zuke's dog treat). I'm waiting for mine to come in the mail. I want to make sure Smudge will eat them before I buy a larger bag. I read a review that these treats dry up easily. Is this true?

balancing diet with treats

Smudge! I love your question about balancing the diet with the treats. You must have read my mind! I was thinking the exact same thing!

I have a 19 week old (how old is your?). My girl weighs 13lbs. The vet said she is perfect weight and ht. to keep up what I am doing.
She is pretty active. We have been in 3 obedience classes. She gets alot of treats. She gets good stuff (chicken, liver, cheese. hot dogs). When we go to class I cut back on her meal before the class. When we go for a walk or if we are training and she gets alot I might cut back on the meal afterwards. She gets about 1\2 cup 2x's a day.

Smudge will be 4 months old tomorrow. I'm not exactly sure how much he weighs. The people at the vet's office usually tell me, but they didn't the last time and I forgot to ask. I'm guessing he's at least around 11 pounds though, because the flea medicine they gave him was for dogs 11 pounds and up.

I have never tried cheese. I'll have to try that, too. He eats peanut butter like it's going out of style. He also likes mangos a whole lot.

A recipe that is a favorite?

I had a request to make some Banana Biscotti Biscuits,(dog biscuits). So I was wondering if any one may have a favorite recipe or site that you like.If you have made your own dog treats.
