Food Help

Well we said..he's a lab,they often do have skin,itchy issues,it NEVER occured to us about the food, Nor was it ever thought of when we made visits to our vet. You know they don't say to you,well ("maybe you should try something,that does'nt have by-products,no corn,no wheat"..dadadaetc..)

It was'nt until I joined here,prior to bringing Trapp home,was I aware they actually had dog food analysis sites,to inform the consumer. All this time our Earnhardt no doubt had a corn allergy,or something else that was present in his "good" food we bought.

So now we look at it in a differant perspective,and so glad of this forum,for the help,all past threads.

We are now itchy free,we have virtually zilch for shedding,and for a lab,that is a miracle. He is down to an acceptable weight.Was 92 lbs!

Don't beat yourself up! It's all good..now you go from here,and you'll be happy,they will be happier,and healthier for the info you have read,and making a change.

Im not beating myself up ... it just sucks that i was so unaware... I am SOOO HAPPY to have found this forum . ( as you can tell by my constant posting).

I actually called the vet today to ask if they had any of the foods i wanted. they didint . But they tried to push their brands on me . My first question was " Are there grains in your brands?" and of course they said yes and tried to convince me that it was still good quality food.. I politely said no thanks.
IF there is anything else anyone thinks i should know or do please message me.. I am totally open to all and any advice.

As all, very happy to hear that you are working hard to do what is best for your Angel.
However, i would respectfully suggest that this is overstating the case, at least just a tad. :smile2:

Another vote for Taste Of The Wild :) My guys love it

A word of caution though- be careful transitioning. Don't just switch straight from puppy chow to TOTW or you're probably going to run into very loose stool since TOTW is much richer than puppy chow. Make it a very gradual transition.

Yes: Vibrant Pets. No kidding, this stuff is amazing. Get your puppy on Show Dog formula. Canine Athlete is great for agility, and we use joint and muscle for our girls with hip issues.

Well yes Chris..I was also going to mention it that he may like to look into it. I do think I mentioned it in my original post that the guys to get it here.But did'nt elaborate on it.

Sheltieguy...What ever you do, do NOT be hard on yourself over what you fed you Angel. Dogs and cats having been living for YEARS on what you fed her. To be honest with you, I had my Megan on an excellent Natural Organic dry food for a few weeks, it made her sick :uhoh:. My personal Vet + my sis-in-law who is a Vet said to not get caught up in the hype of natural/organic stuff. I am NOT in anyway shape or form saying it's not good, it just wasn't good for Megan, it was too strong for her. I have learned over the past few weeks to feed Megan what is GOOD and best for her.

She now eats Royal Canin puppy 33 and is thriving. You are doing great..:yes:

I use vibrant pets as well. It seems to have helped my dogs sensitive stomach issues. I'm not sure where I read this, so if I'm wrong, someone please correct. I believe you're not supposed to use vibrant pets until your puppy is 5 months old.

I started Beckon at three months, soon as I got him. I'll ask Irina next time I see her.
