Spent weekend watching Denise Fenzi problem solving obedience issues. Denise presents amazing skills in being able to dissect small details and add to people pizzaz in their obedience execution.
here is presentation of "obility":biggrin2:

One of her main cues is " take a break" which to best my abilities is a mix between Susanne Clothier autocheck in and CU "LAT". You tell the dog to take a break when dog starts getting distracted, wait until dog checks in back and then start with easy cookie reward, eventually increase to behavior chain as verbal praise, walk backwards, turn, reward. In the end it becomes cue " get ready for work".
Here is some explanation.

your thoughts?

I'm hearing great reviews of the Denise Fenzi seminar from aquaintances that attended. I watched her early youtubes of Ciscu (?sp) and became a fan. Precision, and a pleasure to watch!

Don't know anything about Control Unleashed, except that it is a popular book.

Will look for Denise Fenzi to come to the Southeast. Meanwhile, Joanne Flemming is coming this weekend. :)

oh, thanks for posting this link! Good description of seminar and we did see a lot of dogs from the ones going into overarousal to the ones that completely shut down.
Funny how each person makes its own interpretation of same event. Those keys mentioned in the blog were totally not what I carried out of seminar. Maybe the reason is I am already familiar with those so I concentrated on new for me stuff I heard.
Anyway, Denise is amazing in many things and on some points it was disappointing to me as she does not seems to be accepting scientific ways of learning in behavioral science so it was difficult to follow. This DOC protocol was something that set me off big way. I am respectful but not a big fan of CU.
Question that Denise posted in the beginning is how do you bring dog into new place? What do you do and what are your expectations? Do you let your dog sniff all around? Explore the environment? Do you keep 100% attention on yourself and work on perfect heeling/ attention? Everyone understands rules of the ring once you inside of it but how to get there? I thought it was most controversial subject that Denise was discussing. For those that still use leash popping solution is obvious/ not necessary effective though:yes:/ but for those that go positive route, who don't want to correct, it becomes a behavioral chain of challenges. Do we stop the dog by removing them? Do we say the dog's name? Do we use 'leave it'? Did we not build enough value for ourselves? Do we let them explore until they are done, etc., etc. There isn't an easy answer.

Were there any good tips that came out of that? I'd love to hear them!

Yes, that is her. I think this will be working weekend #4, but I am audit only this time. I haven't made much progress on that tight sit yet, but to be fair to JF, I don't with hold meals. cookies, yes.

Are you on recallers FB? I posted my report there. If you still not send me your email and I will send you my notes.
I am not fan of CU, neither I am fan of letting dog to walk in the new building and let dog be a dog and start sniffing. Won't work for my dogs for sure. I think it is difficult concept and it is hard to follow for most people. I have seen right away several handlers being dragged all over the floor by letting their dog sniffing and those were experienced handlers.
Good tip I got to teach entry to the ring as a separate exercise and test and proof as any other separate problem.

I would like to hear more about her if she is positive dog trainer. This short clip is a bit confusing, she uses lots of NRM/4 times/ in addition to No and kneeling the dog to dislodge from incorrect sit, and all under first minute of presentation. Kinda makes you think what is basis of her training. Bowwowflix has her DVD to rent.
