For those of you that use seatbelts/harnesses...

Ok..I am looking at it now. Does it come with the buckle for fastening the dog to the seat in the vehicle,or do I still need to find a buckle.

And also I was wondering..I'm not sure what size. I'm thinking as of now,Jasper is so small,and truck rides are not that often.But I do need something.So what size do you think.What size did you get Bailey.Will she be able to use it for a long time,or is it a size that she will out grow soon.
Jasper is a mere 7 lbs.I do think he is going to be smaller than Trapp.
Trapp weighed 11.5 lbs at the age Jasper is right now.

I have the sm/med for Bailey. It was much bigger than I expected. I got it for her when she was 4 months old and it was too big for her. I had to use a hair tie to make it smaller. Now she is 13 inches and about 13 pounds and it is still a little big for her. So, I would go with the xsmall for Jasper. I don't know how small that size is or how big Jasper will get, so he may grow up of it.

Ok thank you. I do think I'm still going to prder the small/medium.As I'm thinking future with him.I want him to wear it for awhile.

Ok, I see, so that seatbelt harnes goes through the seatbelt like a loop, rather then clipping into the buckle? So your husband thinks the ones that clip into the buckle are safer?
 
See the one I'm using now for Trapp is just a strap.It has heavy duty langyard hook.One end hooks to his harness,the othe end hooks right directly into the seat beat fixture in the seat.

It came with an optional strapping that you could extend the strapping for larger dogs.
The strap is fairly wide,at least 3" or more.I'll have to take a picture of it later.
 
He said that the harness that allows the seatbelt strap to go right through them are the best. The least amount of buckles and extra strapping are best. If you use the end that clips into the seatbelt latch, it allows for too much length. Meaning, it's more of a tether rope...so the dog can still become airborne. The snugger the dog is to the seat, the better. I know it's hard as we want them to all be able to move about and look out the window, but ultimately it's their safety as well as our own that we're concerned about. Besides, no one wants to be hit in the head by a flying Sheltie.

Between a rock and a hard place then. I got one of the seat belt loops, but Tully gets so tangled it becomes quite dangerous. The seat belt clips on the other hand do allow her to throw herself around (altho at least it keeps her on the back seat, albeit barking in my ear). As soon as the weather cools down I think Tully will have to go in the back of the wagon, maybe even in the kittens crate.
 
Bailey's clip harness is adjustable. I have it on the smallest setting. She can't really go anywhere besides laying down.
